Great food and atmosphere. This is an excellent and well-run pub. When we booked we were told there wasn't a table at 8.00pm. The reason? There was a booking for 12 people at that time which mean't anybody else would have had to wait for their meals. There were probably six other table available available.at that time. Friday night is 'Fish Night' so about 30% of the menu consists of good and varied fish dishes. Typical English village pub but mind your head on the low oak beams!

We were going to Hinton Airfield and as its a 2 and a half hour journey thought we may as well make the most of the day and find somewhere nice to have lunch. I did a bit of research before we left and found that the Horse and Groom were part of the Tastecard gourmet diners scheme and had brilliant reviews on TA.
Definitely a wise choice. We had the tempura prawns and sweet chilli sauce for starters. They were lovely. I often find batter to be a bit heavy and greasy but not these. The batter was very delicate and not at all greasy and the prawns were succulent and tasty. Then came the steak! Wow! Many many places serve steak but rarely to this standard. Cooked perfectly, sooooo tender and juicy. Absolutely perfect. All polished off with a delicious bread and butter pudding. A long way for us to travel, but if we are in the area we will definitely be back.

The food is great, locally sourced produce, cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant has a lovely abience and the pub itself, exceptionally clean. A good place to take guests where you know you are guaranteed a good experience. About 6 miles from Banbury, but well worth the trip!

We first came to this public house four weeks ago when we cycled to oxford from Solihull with friends and it provided a great lunch time experience. we were so impressed that we decided to go back for an evening meal. The pub has a lovely restaurant in the rear that is homely and cosy. The food is gastro pub style and all the produce is sourced locally giving a real tasty menu. The asparagus starter was very fresh and gorgeous. The main courses and deserts were fabulous too with a great bread and butter pudding. My only disappointment was the fact when I booked I explained that we had been recently stopped on our cycle ride and we said then we would come back soon . Its a little bit of a trek as we live an hour away costing and with rising fuel prices this was an additional cost to our evening but we felt it would be worth it to support a new family run business. It may seem a little egocentric but we would have liked a little recognition when we arrived and a thank you for coming back. The whole evening was lovely but checking the bill five extra drinks had been put on by mistake. The staff were apologetic. i would go back but wont be driving specifically to the restaurant which is a real shame. The chef is talented but was just let down slightly by the front of house staff.
