When we arrived we were driven by Louise to the supermarket to do our shopping. On the way back she dropped us off at the local pub and picked us up when the boat was ready. Not only that, all our groceries where stored in the boat for us. This is nothing else than excellent service!

The boat itself was in good condition, clean and fresh.

My husband and I, together with our good friends, another couple, have just returned from a week's holiday on Conqueror when we were blessed with brilliant weather!. We couldn't fault the boat, it was clean, well equipped, and true to the brochure info. Colin gave us a detailed handover and although we were not new to narrowboating, it was good to have a refresher. We cruised from Twyford Wharf down to Oxford and spent a lovely day seeing the city sights and then went north as far as Fenny Compton then back to Twyford. One slight problem - the Oxford canal at present is very overgrown in a lot of places with greenery encroaching into the canal and restricting views whilst steering. Also, at the present time the canal is very shallow in many areas which caused steering difficulties with this size of boat. Despite this, we had a lovely week. Thank you Colin and crew.

We have just spent a week on Conquerer from Twyford Wharf Narrow Boats. We had Canadian family with us so it was a whole new experience for them! We entirely agree with all the reviews we've read and can't fault the boat, equipment and friendly helpful advice we received from Colin when we picked up the boat. A very positive experience all round.

My husband and I arrived at Twyford Wharf on Monday, 9th June where Colin was waiting to hand over 'Chieftain' to us. Being absolute novices at canal travel, we were a little apprehensive (me more than him) but Colin was very welcoming and reassuring. He instructed us on all aspects of how to steer and maintain the boat and took us to the first lock to show me (big mistake!) how to operate the lock. Although I cannot fault his instructions, it did take me most of the week to get used to the correct procedure! Luckily other canal users are very helpful and we had a lot of fun and felt a sense of achievement (eventually!) The boat itself is fantastic - so well equipped (all bedding and towels as well as everything you need in the kitchen) - you do not have to take anything really, just food and drink. It was very clean and the toilets and shower were pristine. My brother and sister-in-law, my son-in-law and two grandchildren met us at Cropredy so we had a "full house" for two nights. There was plenty of room for all of us. We were so lucky to have lots of sunshine and this is a lovely part of the country; the views are beautiful and we enjoyed the company of many ducks and ducklings, moorhens etc. It was quite an adventure for us, not without stress but only because we are amateurs! By the time we handed the boat back we had just got used to steering it and operating the locks without having to think about it! I would recommend Twyford Wharf Narrow Boats without hesitation. Colin and his staff cannot be faulted. A good time was had by all!

Last week we hired a narrow boat from Twyford Wharf. It was one of the best experiences we have had. Our boat, Conqueror, was immaculate with every conceivable requirement. As tourists from Australia, we don't generally travel with such things as towels or cling wrap or salt and pepper, but the Conqueror had all these things and more and we wanted for nothing.
The handover from Colin and Mick was thorough and comprehensive and we didn't feel silly asking them to repeat several points and we also felt that there would be no problem if we needed to contact them in an emergency. We didn't need to but it was good to know the option was there.
Mick took us through our first lock, showing us all the tricks and then we were off.
We dined at several canal side pubs, fed the ducks and swans from the side of our boat, chatted to all the friendly people we passed and sat back and admired the scenery as we cruised along.
If you've ever wanted to try narrow boats, I can strongly recommend Twyford Wharf Narrow Boats, great boats, great people, great time had by all.
