Much like Hugh B, the room we were allocated (No.12) was very small with a tiny corner shower and no bath. The floor in the corridor outside the room had very creaky floorboards. Everyone that passed by announced their pressence with sound effects from a B movie horror film. The door at the base of the staircase banged loudly as the soft closure unit did not work properly. We requested a change as soon as we could after seeing the room but were told they were fully booked and there was nothing else available. That said, the staff were polite and helpful. The bar and lounge had plenty of space with mixed seating. The food in the resturant was ok, what I would expect to find in a chain like Brewmaster or Harvester. Beware sitting near a resturant window when the wind blows on a cold day, double glazed they are not! If we were to return to the area we would look at alternatives before choosing to stay here again.

Room Tip: If you like a bath check that your room will have one.

Thank you for recent feedback on your stay here at the Cromwell. We value all comments whether good or bad to improve the service that we offer.

We are sorry to hear that the bedroom allocated was not to your satisfaction and that we had no other rooms available to move you to as we were fully booked. Due to the historic nature of the building, there are a lot of creaky floorboards around the hotel, which gives it a unique style and lives up to the name of an Old English Inn. We would like to thank you for the comments regarding the team, which we shall pass to them. With regards to a shower in this room and not a bath, all of our rooms are en-suite but either have a bath or a shower. If a bath is required it is always best to call the hotel before arrival so that we can allocate you a room that suits your needs.

Stayed 2 nights B and B in a 'feature room' using our Tesco vouchers. What fabulous rooms and sooooo comfy beds. Really spacious and spotlessly clean rooms. From the start of booking I dealt with Steph, who I believe is the Assistant Manager at the hotel and she was really very helpful. I forgot the charger for my iphone, but that wasn't a problem for her. She got my phone charged and returned. We were going to go to Oxford for a bit of shopping, but Banbury really surprised us. A really good shopping centre there, with plenty to do. Our room was overlookin the gardens and was really quiet. My brother was at the front, but had no problem with noise. Steph recommended an Indian for one of our evenings, Jaypur - what a find. So loved it. The second evening we ate in the hotel and that was really good as well. Altogether a really nice stay. We keep looking out for offers now, in order to return

Room Tip: Pay that little bit mire and have a feature room

We were sorry to find the room was very small and had only a shower rather than a proper bathroom. But it was nice and quiet and the beds were comfortable.
Biggest problem was parking. We drove to the hotel car park in the dark, only to find it completely full. Reversed out and parked in the service road in front of the hotel, not realising that this was a pay and display area. Result, a parking ticket (£80) when we came out with our luggage at 0900 next morning. The hotel really ought to warn customers.

Thank you for your recent comment. We value all feedback, good or bad and welcome all comments to improve our service and facilities. We are sorry to hear about you receiving a parking ticket at the front of the hotel which is a public car park. In a result going forward so as not to have this happen to guests again we shall be asking the guests if they have parked in our car park at the rear of the hotel in the future. For any other customers reading this the car park at the front of the hotel is clearly marked as pay & display, our car park is in our grounds at the rear of the hotel.

We stayed here for 2 nights while visiting local places of interest. We were not disappointed, the rooms were clean and the food was lovely and the restaurant had a good choice. I would definately come back again. I also liked the fact that we could park behind the hotel.

From the minute Gabriel and his team greet you it is immediately apparent that you going to have a good stay. The room was clean and comfortable although a tad compact. Restaurant service and food quality for both breakfast and dinner was faultless. We had one of the best steaks for dinner that we have eaten for a long time.
Great location for access into Banbury town centre.
We will be going back for another stay

Room Tip: Room 17 is quiet and has a dual aspect view of the garden

Our son's wedding reception was held here and the staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and willing to please. Nothing was too much trouble for them and any request was dealt with instantly. They had even checked the weather forecast the night before to see if the sun would be shining. The food was marvellous, the room clean and comfortable.

We have just returned from a break here. We cannot fault this hotel, We had very warm welcome. The bedroom and bathroom were immaculate, the food was delicious and the Restaurant staff were brilliant. Banbury is a really nice place for a break and we had a lovely stay. Would definitely recommend it.
