“Best place to stay in Ashford?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2012

This was our second visit to the hotel which we used as a stop-over on route to Disneyland via the Euro-Star.

The moment we walked through the doors at reception the staff were welcoming, friendly, helpful and polite.

There were no queues at reception and our room was ready, so check in was fine.

Walking to our room it was apparent that there were smoking rooms still at this hotel which may please those smokers out there. As non-smokers the smell was really noticeable and really got to the back of your throat. Otherwise the corridors were clean and tidy.

The room was to the standard we remembered, clean, well furnished and well maintained. It was also a decent size. We had a double bed, an extra single bed and a sofa bed all out in the room but there was still ample floor space.

There was a kettle and complementary tea and coffee in the room. The TV had been upgraded since our last stay and there were better cable channels than what we remember from before. There was also a hair dryer and trouser press in the room.

The bathroom was clean and of a good standard and the shower and water pressure was excellent.

A part from pay-for-view movies there is not much to keep the children entertained so if you are thinking of staying here and have children, bring a portable DVD player with their own movies.
There is no swimming pool or anything here but the hotel is close by to Ashford’s town centre.

The location is excellent. Ashford International, the town centre, designer outlets, a large Sainsbury’s supermarket and a leisure centre are all within 10 minutes drives. We took the kids swimming down the road and a burger at McDonalds afterwards.

There are dining options available in the hotel including room service but it was around £10 for a burger meal option. (room service)

Check-out was not as smooth as check-in, with only one lady at the desk for a long queue. It took 15 minutes just to hand the key back and say we were checking out. To cut down on the check-out queues they should consider an express check-out service for those guests, like us, who did not have any charges and simply just wanted to go. Otherwise like on this occasion we were made to queue with those who had queries over charges or needed to pay room charges.

Otherwise we had a restful stay and we would absolutely consider staying again. From our research we concluded this was the best hotel to stay at in Ashford for our intended purpose.

Room Tip: The hotel is a part converted barn. If you are a light-sleeper, I would suggest you ask for a room o...

Thank you so much for your feedback. I am delighted that you have found this to be the best hotel to stay in Ashford. We now have a website with great links to local attraction & events that are taking place in the hotel. We offer a great value Eurostar package which includes accommodation, breakfast, on-site parking along with taxi journeys to & from the Eurostar terminal. I do hope we can welcome back to our hotel in the near future.

My wife and I stayed for one night, breaking a journey on the way to the continent. For £78, we obtained the room, dinner and breakfast for both of us.

The evening meal selection was fine for what we paid, you can select from about half of the menu for the pre-paid deal. The breakfast was plentiful, and the room was large and comfortable - we could have put our 2 boys in it as well had we needed to. The shower had plenty of hot water in it.

The hotel is convenient for the M20 and Chunnel/Dover.

The winning point though is the staff. Everyone we dealt with was pleasant, smiled and helpful.

I needed a hotel between heathrow and eurotunnel and picked his based on the web description.
Check in efficient and handed a Priority Club bonus bag.......two bottles of water and a kit kat!
No lift.....in this level of hotel this is poor even though my bag was delivered 15 mins later.
Decided to use the hotel restaurent. Oh dear!.....only three other tables in use but to get a gilles chicken took over 45mins which was far too long and as I was on CET time it felt like eating food at 2300!!!!
Room rather noisy as corridor noises transmitted easily into the room.
Departure was rather odd. No one on reception but had to dial a number on phone and then a rather flustered desk clerk arrived. Not sure where he had been but I guess away reading the paper and taking a ?.
Overall average but provided a clean room to sleep in.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the executive room.

. . . technology let it down. Minor irritants but worth noting that Tom (our trusty sat nav) had us going up and down the motorway before we found the location (wasted lots of time and petrol) also would have liked to have a paper copy of the hotel information rather than the laborious on-screen method.

Otherwise we were very pleased with our choice - all the important things that matter to us were in place - helpful and attentive staff, good-sized clean room, lovely food.

Booked one night fairly last minute for Bank Holiday 5 June at a very reasonable £44 (room only rate).

Arrived around 3pm and asked to wait around 5 minutes for room check. Reception staff pleasant and offered help with bags, etc but not needed.

Lovely spacious room plus clean and fresh bathroom. Tea/coffee etc, kettle plus 2 glasses provided (we were issued with 2 bottles of water and a bar of chocolate on arrival!) - could have done with more milk sachets though.

Lead on hair dryer slightly too short to dry hair and see in the mirror, but managed!

Comfy bed and a good nights sleep.

Will stay again.

I loved the whole idea of the conversion of a barn into a hotel. But then the whole floor is still wooden so you are bound to hear footsteps running on the top floor or on the corridor on your floor. Makes sleeping a bit difficult. You will love their breakfast and the large windows at the restaurant. Proximity to town was only ten minutes and to the designer outlet mall, about 15mins tops by car.
Hygiene wise it was good.
