I was so cross about the previous negative review / 8th April that I had to come to the defence of our great little local pub. We were last there for Sunday lunch on the 6th April and yesterday for lunch Saturday the 12th. Our Sunday lunch was beautiful and well cooked by Mark. The meat was not like that found in school dinners it was tender with delicious roast potatoes - and vegetables - plentiful and good value. The coconut sponge and cheesecake were definitely not out the freezer they were delicious. Yesterday my fish pie was the best I have had in any restaurant.
We think that some people take pleasure in trying to damage a good well deserved reputation. Maybe they came from one of the other local pubs they mentioned that isn't doing so well. We are lucky to live near the pub and have always had excellent food, Mark and Deb give great friendly service always make you welcome and provide fresh good value food. It's always a pleasure to visit. Don't be put off by the previous review, sour grapes comes to mind. Keep up the good work Mark and Deb thankyou

Was excited about this place having heard good things. Was a real let down which is a shame. Good in places but flawed in others. Meat was very thin school dinner cuts. Not what you expect for 10.95 when surely the meat is the most expensive input. Deserts very poor. 5.95 each and straight out the freezer. All three of us felt they were flavourless and expensive for what they were. Custard with a dry sticky toffee pudding was charged as extra for 2 pounds. Small things like that were regrettable. Won't be going back but if they tweaked some fundamental areas, could be far better. Local alternatives, which I see no point in naming, offer delicious roasts on a Sunday for better value. You don't mind paying if it's good!

Stopped off during country walk and had warm welcome with generous, delicious food and great coffee (cafetiere). The pub felt very well looked after and the service was excellent.

We returned to the Swan with Mother in tow for an early Mothers Day treat. We were NOT disappointed. The food was superb and plentiful. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere as before. And they remembered us from our last visit (prob 6 months ago). We were so impressed Mother commented that it was the best place we had ever taken her. Definately will be returning with more of the family in the near future.

Just celebrated my husband's special birthday with the family at The Swan. The food was excellent and the welcome great. Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere of a "proper pub". There are so few left.
