“Small but perfectly proportioned”
Reviewed 24 August 2014 via mobile

This is one of many National Trust places to visit in the area. The gardens are so well kept and in early summer the wisteria on the cafe stone wall is gorgeous. Take a stroll round the village to see the old ham stone houses and the ancient church. This village also has an open gardens event in July ( next one will be in 2015)

“Enchanting”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

Stopped with a group for an afternoon visit. Very pretty, lots of colour, calm & relaxing atmosphere, gardens filled with birdsong. Nice cream tea in the tea room too. Will be returning.

“A good garden”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

This National Trust Property is a series of six garden rooms arranged in a grid pattern covering less than two acres. It was created by Phyllis Reiss between 1933 and 1961 and is described as one of the most harmonious and carefully thought-out small gardens in Britain. The tranquil pool garden is the best of the selection.
A very beautiful and tranquil oasis.
There is very pleasant tearoom there, although the house itself has only two rooms on show.

“Lovely gardens”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

Average gardens, a lot of weeds in amongst plants. £7.50 each to get in seemed a lot of money for only the gardens and 2 rooms available to look in inside. We were looking forward to this as it wasn't far from home, but a bit disappointed. Small tea room could do with serving light lunches (sandwiches etc). We had tea and cake but there is a lovely pub some 100 yds away.

“Smallish garden, but nonetheless pleasant”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

Only two ground floor rooms open to view in the house, the remainder being used as holiday lets. Main focus of interest is the small 17th-century garden consisting of about six feature gardens, woodland walk, and orchard. There is a small tea room, and a small village exhibition. Plenty of parking spaces in the neighbouring field. Worth visiting should you happen to be passing, but probably not worth going out of your way to go there.
