I stayed here for one night with business colleagues. Once I knew I was going to be staying here I looked on Tripadvisor and to be honest what I read didn't fill me with joy however I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Check in was done quickly and I was booked into one of the stable rooms, I found it to be comfortable and had everything I needed with coffee & tea making facilities and a good shower and even included an iron and ironing board which was ideal. We had dinner in the restaurant and it was fairly good even though the service was a bit slow and on more than one occasion we had to remind the staff that we hadn't received everything we'd ordered. Although the hotel could possibly do with a bit of a refurbishment I found it to be clean and comfortable. Again at breakfast the dining room seemed a little understaffed but the breakfast itself was very good apart from the limp toast, it had obviously been left on top of some kind of heater and wasn't freshly made. Apart from that I had a decent stay and would use the hotel again

Beautiful main building with a nice, tidy restaurant and a pub. Unfortunately the room we stayed in was a very low end of 4 stars. Totally inadequate sound-proofing - we could hear other guests talking, coughing and walking next door and upstairs. Tiny little room, cracks in the bathroom ceiling, screw holes in the bathroom tiles, only two hangers (one plastic, one wooden), hairdryer lying on the grubby floor of the wardrobe, hospitality tray not filled OR cleaned after the previous guest. View from our ground floor room: straight into somebody's car that was parked in front of the window. And for this you pay £115 per night. No, not in London. In Yeovil.

This hotel is in a good location with close proximity to the town centre. We stayed there for 3 nights with friends for a big birthday & had mixed reactions, the staff were all very pleasant & Josh & Laura were particularly helpful but we did have a few issues with our food coming out wrong I think this was because at the time of our stay they seemed incredibly short staffed. However our
rooms were not serviced after the first night & the bathroom not cleaned during our entire stay I also discovered black mould on the walls inside the wardrobe/cupboard. Laura listened to our
comments & we felt that she dealt with them well & we were very pleased with the outcome & we would be prepared to go back again all in all a pleasant stay

Stayed here with the Mrs for a one night getaway from the kids. Booked a 'superior' room, which was huge, with a four poster bed, large modern en-suite with bath and shower and a walk in closet. The room (as indeed was the whole place) was spotlessly clean, and all the staff were very friendly and polite. We were there on quite a cold night but the whole building was toasty warm. Despite being so close to the town centre, it was very quiet and we both got a good nights sleep. The bed had fresh crisp sheets and pillows and was probably the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The bar was well stocked and at pub prices. Although we ate out, looking at the meals others were served in the evening that was our mistake. Breakfast is served until 12 noon, we ate at 11.15 and it didn't look like it had been sat around all morning, although it did repeat on us for a while after.
In all I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, we will certainly be paying them another visit 10/10!

Room Tip: For the sake of a few pounds extra, the superior rooms are the size of a small flat!

We have seen this hotel decline over the past two years. During our latest visit the toilets were so filthy that my wife refused to use the ladies. The waiters and chef told us that nearest soup they had to vegetable was chicken! We requested a bottle of white wine only to be told that the only one they had was at room temperature! - was that ok?
The manager we spoke to was extremely rude. He accepted that this was the case and told me that he did not have any training to deal with customers as his job was to promote the hotel in order to increase custom! You could not make it up!
Take my advice, find another hotel.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Refurbished three years ago The Manor is located in the Somerset town of Yeovil with easy access via the A303. An Ideal base if visiting Yeovilton, Sherborne. Built in 1735 by local glover and merchant banker John Daniel, the house was known as Hendford House. After he passed away the house was rented out until 1927 when it became The Manor Hotel. A manor it may not be, but it is certainly elegant enough to be one. Its classical facade and porch are of warm, mellow stone, and to its long single wing, also of stone. It has a cheerful modern bar with scrubbed floorboards and pale beechwood furniture and fittings. Today the hotel is a firm favourite with locals and travellers alike. You will be assured of a very warm welcome and great hospitality. Yeovil is the ideal spot from which to explore Hardy's Wessex. Nearby attractions include Glastonbury Abbey. ... more   less
