After trying on many occasions to get a table here on a Saturday evening, we managed to this weekend . On arrival we were greeted by two very friendly bar staff, made us fell right at home shown to a lovely separate dining area. Menus were very interesting varying in prices and simplicity, something to suit every ones taste. We all had different meals every thing cooked to perfection all came with a dish of 5 different FRESH vegetables, very generous portions. The meal was easy like a top restaurant rather than a road side pub. We can't wait to go back. Booking a table for a Saturday is a must so as not to be disappointed. The bar/waitress nothing was too much trouble the staff are a credit to this well run establishment

Stopped off for lunch in the royal George. Busy pub considering it was a Tuesday. Menu had good choice, and drinks range strong. I had Balti-and it had a real flavour to it. My colleague went with gammon and said it was a great taste. The food was freshly cooked and was hot when it came out. Price was acceptable too. This pub seems to attract plenty of business and I can see why.

Saw the sign outside 'Fresh Lobster and Dressed Crab' - so we went in. This is a local pub, with local drinkers and all that goes with them. Not an up market restuarant. We had read a previous TA review and guess what - when we asked to see the menu we were given the daily specials menu sheet ( could see as it was slightly tatty that it was say 48+ hours old ) that neither the crab or lobster were on! We enquired and were told 'we sold out at lunchtime' -... sorry we dont believe you!
However, there was Fresh scallops and fresh monkfish and it was exceptional - very very good and perfect presentation - so why pull us in on false pretences - Fresh Scallops and Fish on the board would have worked just as well. Any way, gripe over. This is a chef that knows how to cook and present a plate of food, very much high end masterchef standard and we both would not hesitate to return. Genrally, apart from the above very good, friendly service. will go back

We visited on Saturday evening and were really pleased to see such an extensive fish menu
Problem one despite signs everywhere offering Lobster, sold out at 8pm Sat. Ran out of my wifes tipple Campari after one shot, drained a half measure and gave for free.
However the menu is very extensive and well cooked pub / restaurant quality
The deep fried Camembert starter at £7 plus was expensive but good
My monk fish was delightful and had a great salsa and traditional veg ( not really needed, a fresh salad would have been better) My wife's calamari was again excellent
We shared a childish Knickerbocker glory, but it was fun
One comment, I visited the pub for a quick drink the night before and was really amazed at the behavior and language of some of the rather older locals, loud, racist, homophobic with obscene language, not very welcoming and if we had been seated in the pub rather than the restaurant I probably would not have stayed
