“We love it here”
Reviewed 29 July 2014

Set on a hill on chalk soil hidden from view you would not believe how lovely these gardens are. The kids love running round the various sections, seeing the giant carp in the ponds and spotting dragon flies. Rolling down the hills on their tummies, hiding in the woodland and looking at all the beautiful flowers. There is something to see all year round (that it's open) so we never worry about it looking bare or being boring. Plus it's free to get in to.

“Delightful Walks and Beautiful Gardens”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

Highdown Gardens offer free access to the public and they lead to the beautiful Downs that offer stunning views over the South Coast and the English Channel. The gardens are comfortably laid out, they offer a very homely atmosphere to visitors and would make a fine location to sit and enjoy a good book after a short walk and a look at the considerable array of vegetation, flowers, birds, butterflies, insects and fish. There are lawns, ponds, woodland and flowerbeds liberally dotted with benches to rest weary limbs. When you get back to the car park you can elect to walk up to the downs before going home.

The Park is an outdoor theatre. 'As You Like It' was being offered the day we visited but we didn't stay, unfortunately.

This Park, and its' attractions, really is a 'must do' if you are in the area. A great day out for children.

Visited after original plans had fallen through. However, it was a wonderful day. The gardens were beautiful and good for all ages.

“Best garden and free”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

A real inspiration. The gardens are not so big, but designed in a way that makes it feel bigger. Always interesting displays, a real inspiration for your own garden as nothing too fancy. Also, wonderful play in July.
