over all I was very pleased with my stay and when refurb is complete the hotel will look better, staff very pleasant and eager to help. the location is near perfect as its less than 100yds to the beach and well place for all ameneties. food was tasty and reasonably priced. i will be back later in the year

Room Tip: choose a front room if you can as the bus depot to the rear could keep a light sleeper awake

An elegant facade and an impressive location on one of Worthing's premier squares are, on first impressions, two of the major things this place has going for it. The location is a short amble to the sea-front and not far from the centre of town for numerous dining and entertainment options. However, the whole place appears to be stuck in something of a time-warp with frayed carpets, out-dated decor and an altogether bygone ambience. Faded grandeur not withstanding the service was courteous and efficient and the facilities here are above average for a typical three star hotel, including a library, a games room, spacious conference facilities, restaurant and lounge/bar.

My room on the third floor was situated at the rear of the building and had a non-view of a coach station car-park...It was a Sunday night reservation, which cost £55, including cooked breakfast (normally charged at £13.50 apparently!?). It was the start of the Worthing WOW festival so this may have affected availability/prices etc...Room was quite spacious although shower in the en-suite was poor (old fittings and low water pressure), which really let it down. Breakfast was frankly underwhelming; the cooked breakfast was so small it actually looked like a child's portion. Other than that it was quite acceptable, though frankly nothing special.

The Chatsworth is evidently attracting a mixed clientele and is perhaps deservedly popular for given reasons...Personally it didn't quite deliver everything that I expected but it held its own. Not sure I'll be back but for a one-night stopover it was just fine. 3 stars.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room...?

As with previous reviewers, it is looking tired BUT the recently redocrated rooms really do look good and they hope to finish by the end of the year. The public rooms also could do with a brighten up. Staff friendly and helpful. Food not bad, had dinner and breakfast. Dinner was very reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Try for the renovated rooms

Room was clean, well appointed and comfortable. Just stayed the one night but will go back when I return to Worthing. Staff were very pleasant, jovial and happy to share a joke or two with us. I think everything is a little dated in Worthing, it's a step back in time, but as long as you expect it, you won't be let down.

Room Tip: Ask the hotel directly if you have a particular request. Some of the rooms will have a sea view or r...

I recently stayed for one night at the Chatsworth. I was allocated what can only be described as an attic room, reached by a small sloping staircase. As I climbed up the omens weren't good. It reached a sloping floor and the room and clearly been constructed out of a space that itself was sloping. The room therefore had an uneven floor. If one was sitting at the desk, one's weight was constantly shifted on one side. Very odd and uncomfortable. There were no conventional windows just small skylights with no blinds. For this space, the hotel charged £75.00! I find that a complete rip-off. The breakfast was good, but how can they justify this price for such a sub-standard room?

We had a 2 night stay here and although we did enjoy it the hotel is in great need of refurbishment, the carpets are very worn in a lot of places. We had a double room over looking the park which was lovely but at night was noisy as we tried to sleep with the windows open as the weather was fab and the room was hot (it was also on the small side for a double room). The air con was also noisy and didn't really do much. The location is great and the parking very good for Worthing. The staff were all very friendly & helpful & that made it a pleasure to stay. We didn't use the restaurant for our evening meal as we were visiting our daughter but we did have breakfast. I was a little disappointed with the breakfast the first day as it did seem that although you order what you would like it didn't seem to have been cooked fresh but the second morning it completely different, a beautiful full English freshly cooked with a soft runny poached egg - perfect. We would use the hotel again because it was clean & in fairness we felt good value.

This hotel has definitely seen better days, it's clean and tidy but very dated and run down. The staff are polite and helpful but that's not really enough. The real saving grace is the location of the hotel, right by the sea front and close to the highstreet
