“The Best Value Breki In Town”
Reviewed 22 May 2013 via mobile

Have been to the Dome a number of times now since it was given its 'vintage ' refurb The wonderful lady who runs the front of house is warm , friendly , and efficient Nothing is to much trouble for her. We always have the 'all day breakfast' which is amazing value , given the quality and quantity ( about £6) Great coffee too The Cafe itself is cozy with the benefit of outside seating when the sun shines.

“Utterly Charming -we will be back”
Reviewed 29 March 2013

The Dome itself is a 'must visit' for anyone coming to Worthing as it is a fully restored, very early cinema, opening its doors as such in 1911. It has been wonderfully restored with the help of Heritage Lottery money & clearly continues to be very well used, judging by the numbers of families we saw leaving the theatre as we came into the building. Indeed the aroma of fresh popcorn came out to meet us, as we walked past the original wooden box office and into the waiting area beyond.
The friend who accompanied me was absolutely charmed by both the ambience and the sheer beauty and age of the whole building: it really does have a unique atmosphere.
The Cafe Bar has now been renamed the DOME VINTAGE TEA ROOMS - and, just like the rest of the venue, it does not disappoint. Well used tables & chairs are thoughtfully spaced out and the view from the curved picture window looks out across the road to the beach & sea beyond.
The menu is short, but full of delicious sounding dishes - and certainly everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked freshly prepared and 'home made'; there were also a number of very attractive looking cakes sitting under glass covers on the wooden counter top. Crackly twenties music was playing in the background and the staff were all smiley & helpful - indeed my friend said it was 'like stepping back into her childhood'.
We both ordered an Enid Blyton style 'fish fingers & chips' - except that my friend asked for "cheesy chips" & as if that wasn't filling enough, followed it up with toasted tea cake & fruit cake, washed down, not with "lashings of lemonade" but with coffees & hot chocolate.
Everything was just perfect: the food was piping hot & just what we needed after our chilly walk along the promenade & as for the staff, nothing was too much trouble. Portions were huge - each slice of cake being easily enough to feed two. I took back my cake after one mouthful as it was not as described - and the response could not have been more apologetic.
It was a busy day, but no-one rushed to encourage us to leave, making it a truly delightful place to while away an hour or so.
As we left, one of the staff, who, for the first time since we entered was sitting down, said : "come back & see us again soon" - and we assured her that we most definitely would, despite 60 mile round trip!

“A touch of vintage style”
Reviewed 4 March 2013 via mobile

Lovely vintage surroundings make this like a step back in time. Proper china teacups and vintage tableware, relaxing music from bygone age, there's a real warmth and charm to the place. Really good coffee and a lovely afternoon tea enjoyed here on a sunny winter afternoon. Really friendly waitress and a lovely homely feel to this place means it will now be a regular treat stop. Love it.

“Lovely authentic oldie worldly tea room”
Reviewed 25 February 2013

Fantastic atmosphere. Bone china crockery. Music from 19 - 40 era's. Furniture from same era. Nice and cosy tea rooms. Made to feel welcome, sat in window across from sea front and watched the world go by.

Ordered cream scone with a pot of tea each for two. Enough in each pot for nearly two cups each.

Reasonably priced BUT would have gladly paid extra for fresh cream - yuk hate squeezy cream - which rather let the visit down.
