“Our stay at the The Stay Findon Worthington England”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2013

Our experience with this stay was not great, arrived and no-one there to book you in, fortunately there was a guy who had booked in to another room who let us use his phone to ring the owner Clive. He gave us our room number and when I said about the cooked breakfast he said he no longer did this as the guy that did it for him had let him down, he said he had emailed me (by this time we had been left New Zealand 3 weeks and did not have computer axcess) and he would send his mother to pay us 10 pounds for 2 breakfasts although there was 3 adults booked in. She did not arrive so did not see the 10 pounds. Also it said when we booked there would be a refrigerator and bottled water in the room of which there was neither. When I got home to New Zealand I replied to Clives email and said he could send a cheque for the 10 pounds to my home address but to date have heard nothing or no reply to my email. The room was adequate and clean and the village people were very nice and we had a very nice breakfast at Julia,s kitchen across the road.

Reading some of the previous reviews I shall start by saying that I never had cause to ring Clive, and never spoke to anyone during my stay.

I was told before I arrived what my room number would be and that the key would be in the door. Very trustworthy, or open to abuse, you decide.

Anyway, it was all as was stated, key was there room was fine and clean. Free Wi-Fi worked well, bed was comfortable.

Bathroom was clean with complimentary shower gel etc.

So for a single night stay for £45 all was fine. Not sure if I'd be as upbeat if my stay was more than a couple of days. Walls were a bit thin, but not to the point where you could hear talking.

Best of all is the Steakhouse opposite. I'd come back to eat there anytime.

Room Tip: Only saw the location of 3/4 rooms by the road. All seemed fine.

We arrived Friday evening, we had to phone round to find somebody to let us into the property . A man turned up with the key and let us in. This was not a good start to our stay having to wait outside while somebody came with a key. The room had recently been refurbished and I must say to a very high standard, but that is where it finishes. The bed was on slight slope so my husband was rolling off the bed and he ended up sleeping on the sofa bed. The music from the restaurant was loud and we could not here the television, we could not put the speech up without annoying the gentleman in the next room. We had an early morning alarm call which we did not ask for as the Restaurant started hoovering at 6 in the morning. The gentleman that owns the property is very friendly, but that did not help the fact that we had had a really bad night stay. We will not be going back again.

We were a bit sceptical about staying, as the last review of this business was not good. The room was beautiful and Findon is stunning. Very Green! There is a new supplier of breakfasts, which are excellent. Condiments were available in the rooms and further supplies are available upon request if you required them.

On the nights we stayed, the rooms were quiet all night long, which is comforting!

We went to two great restaurants during our stay, The Crown at Dial Post & The Fox at Patching. Both were great. Served good food and had very good reviews.

Cannot wait to visit again.

This place is such good value! We stayed here one night and we had a great time. Bit confusing when you arrive (you need to go into the steakhouse next door to get the key). The place is still being renovated, you can literally smell the fresh paint when walking in! But when we got into our room we were so impressed with it for the money we paid. Lovely good sized room with a kingsize bed, 42" tv, ps3, and a sofabed too. Ensuite as well with a lovely big shower in it. Imaculately clean and well organised room with lovely touches (nice artwork / funky alarm clock that you can put your iPhone on to charge / play music. We were very impressed. Included in the price is a full English breakfast served at the restaurant next door. For a night away in the south downs we couldn't have asked for more comfort or a more relaxed stay. Top marks from us!

Room Tip: Go for the kingsize room 7.
