Me and my family came to stay at this hotel for 2 nights as a family member was getting married.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, our rooms were spacious and nicely decorated! We enjoyed our evening meal which was at a good price and we loved our breakfast! We also enjoyed the tea room which was very cute and we loved the fact dogs were also catered for!

The only negative comments we could make was we noticed as we were getting our things together to leave we notice quite a lot of spiders but this was probably because we had to sleep with our windows open as no fans or air conditioning considering it was around 27 degrees at night! And we couldn't get any wifi service anywhere in the hotel which was provided apart from the tea rooms!

But thank you for a lovely stay! And we will be back there for our next get away from Bournemouth.

Myself and other half decided to stay for a much needed short romantic break and we were not dissapointed. We had looked into staying in Brighton as that was where we planned to visit but the hotels and car parking was far too pricey so we decided on Worthing instead to use as a base. The hotel is neatly tucked away in beautiful peaceful grounds with an old fashioned tea room on the premises and friendly resident cats! The rooms themselves are clean and roomy the bed was huge and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and very tasty. Staff were also friendly and helpful all in all not expensive for what you get only downside is we couldn't get a meal after six when we arrived but there are other restaurants in the area serving food till late. Will def stay again if we come to Brighton .

Highdown Hotel Wedding Venue Review

This Highdown Hotel Wedding Venue Review discusses the building, grounds, staff, food and photographic opportunities from a wedding photographers perspective.

Location

The hotel is in Goring, very near to Worthing, West Sussex. It is a 10 minute drive to the seafront and main shopping area. It is set off the main A259 road between Worthing and Littlehampton and far enough away from it to feel secluded and quiet.

Building and Grounds

The Highdown Hotel is not a large house and there are pleasant but not extensive gardens, but it is comfortable and friendly. It is wood panelled throughout and the outside is a grey stone. It looks very much like an old farmhouse. Unfortunately on the day I photographed the wedding, it was cold and miserable. As a result we spent most of our time indoors.

Function Room

The main function room, where the wedding breakfast and evening reception were held, is large enough to accommodate 200 people comfortably. It has a very grand staircase leading down into the room, which is below ground. This is the only snag I identified as there are no windows. If it was a beautiful sunny summer evening, I can imagine it being a little stuffy and frustrating to be down in the basement with no natural light. That aside it is a lovely space.

Staff Attitude and Appearance

The staff at the Highdown Hotel seem courteous and polite. They were happy to help and relatively speedy. The uniforms are functional rather than stylish.

Wedding Photograph Opportunities

My Highdown Hotel Wedding Venue Review has to include information on photographic opportunities for wedding photographers and for those getting married. On a sunny day photographs outdoors would be lovely in the gardens. No great views, but pretty flowers, greenery and stone buildings. Indoors the grand staircase is great for big group photos and the wood panelled rooms make for nice formal old fashioned style pictures.

Food Taste and Presentation

The food was served relatively swiftly. However, I did not eat with the wedding party. Rather I went to the small cafe attached to the hotel, where the food I was served was perfectly decent and well presented.

Room Quality and Sleep Score

I cannot comment on the hotel rooms or the quality of a nights sleep at the Highdown as I did not stay there.

Conclusion

That's it for my Highdown Hotel Wedding Venue Review. My overall impressions of the hotel as a wedding photographer, are largely positive and I look forward to photographing there again soon.

Train your staff please they are letting down a beautiful old establishment. Wiping your nose and fiddling with piercings is not acceptable when serving food. A real shame staff seemed to not really care. Will never go back for carvery unless we hear of several great reviews. We are local and really want to enjoy this venue but needs serious work in the food quality customer service department.

Grief! You would be hard pressed to find such a disorganized, unprofessional establishment! Staff are totally hopeless, the food was bland and the hotel still needs a severe make over. Save your money........................don't bother with this dump!

We are not sure where your comments have come from during your visit to our Restaurant as you have certainly not made any comments while inside the building otherwise they would have been dealt with directly , in a professional manor. As far as making a statement about the Hotel You obviously have not stayed with us as the Hotel has been Refurbished in December, with new furniture & decorated throughout

We stayed here at short notice as we had a problem with a booking elsewhere. The room was very pleasant and clean. I enjoyed a hot bath but I found the shower temperature a bit variable. The breakfast was a good average. It has a pub feel to it which wouldn't be my first choice and it's not obvious from photos. I like hotels to feel like a hotel!! We were grateful for Highdown having a room as it rescued us somewhat! I would stay again but hopefully get the room a bit cheaper!!

Not a great place - went for Sunday lunch. Food was very average, nothing great, but it was the lack of attention from the waitress that really disappointed us. The surroundings were very old fashioned. Would I go back - probably not.

We Thank you for your comments made in your review, As I`m sure you are now aware this is an old stately home which was built in the 1820`s, hence the old fashioned surroundings.
Sunday`s are our busiest day we do apologise, if your table had not been serviced accordingly & hope we will be able to rectify this on a next visit
