“Party At Dome”

Owner description: This stunning Edwardian cinema, first opened in April 1911 and, having recently celebrated its centenary, has been fully restored to its former glory and is once again open to the public. With our friendly team of staff, this is certainly the place to come and be entertained with your film of choice. We have two screens, including the opulent main auditorium, seating 500 and the more intimate 'Electric Theatre', with it's newly refurbished Premier seating.

The Dome is a great place to go because the films they choose are the best! I once had a party there and the film was Alvin And The Chipmunks. They have a tea room which is quite small but very nice. If it's your birthday they even say happy birthday! The people working there are kind and helpful. Loads of people go there [there's yummy popcorn-that makes it even better!] You really would love it [I know!]

“Nostalgic Visit”

Old fashioned atmosphere. Inexpensive. Enjoyed the visit. Liked the adjoining bar. The whole place is very retro don't look for modern comfortable seats!

“stepping back in time”
Reviewed 31 January 2014

We use this cinema more than any other as it is unique and like cinemas used to be.The bar as you go in offers soft drinks as well as alcohol, and a very welcoming friendly young lady served us with tea before we went into see the film, she also asked if we would like to take our tea in with us. The only downside was that in the past on a matinee wednesday we were offered free tea or coffee and biscuits. The young lady asked the manager for us and he said that they were not doing it! we were not the only ones to ask and that was always a nice little touch, something that the Connaught cinema still does on their Monday matinee. The cinema is comfortable, plenty of leg room and we found the sound quality very good though you could at times hear the other film upstairs. All in all a reasonable and enjoyable afternoon.
