Owner description: This stunning Edwardian cinema, first opened in April 1911 and, having recently celebrated its centenary, has been fully restored to its former glory and is once again open to the public. With our friendly team of staff, this is certainly the place to come and be entertained with your film of choice. We have two screens, including the opulent main auditorium, seating 500 and the more intimate 'Electric Theatre', with it's newly refurbished Premier seating.

My husband and I went to see Spiderman recently and it was a fantastic film. The venue was great but the film was disturbed by the party that was going on in the room next door. Shame they had both going on at the same time.

As we used to frequent this place in the seventies, many years ago, i recently returned, to be surprised how the renovations have complemented the original decor. also the cafe with the old projector in the corner, and memorabilia, was a lovely touch.

This is a cinema in a fabulous building, nicely restored. Its a really lovely place to be and to imagine a time gone by.

The seats are hard and (possibly original) fitting the building and its age. Not all the latest gadgets and gizmos for the cinema, but go for the ambience and a look at this wonderful building.

This cinema has terrific atmosphere and tickets are about half the price of the newer multi-screen venues. Staff are friendly and helpful and I like that you can take your drinks into the cinema with you in proper glasses! I have never had a bad experience with this venue - always a treat.

Going here to watch films is a great all round experience. You can buy your tickets from the booth and get your popcorn from the central stall. The carefully preserved interior takes you back to a bygone age when cinema was King and when you enter the main theatre itself its amazing to think of how many people have sat in the rows of seats over the last century. The seats are surprisingly comfortable and have lots of leg room. The place offers a smaller screen upstairs and films are shown in both 2 and 3D. I say ditch the 10 screen complex and come here instead - you won't be disappointed.
