2nd time I have stopped here and I really don't understand some of the reviews. The rooms are tidy and clean. The prices are reasonable. The staff have been attentive and friendly and with a new manager and chef there have been very good improvements. Yes there can be noise from the club but depending where your room is you can either here slight noise or nothing. Good hotel with good staff. Just needs a bit of updating not much more.

This is a pub with rooms rather than a hotel proper. It is directly opposite the railway station so very convenient if coming to Worthing by train. It is a long walk to the town centre and beach though from the hotel. Also, Worthing seems not to like street signs so it is easy to get lost despite the use of maps on an iPhone!

The bedroom and bathroom were fine. Bedroom was nicely decorated. There was a circular bath in the bathroom and a fairly basic shower over taps which was a little temperamental. A little niggle was that no glasses were provided in the bathroom or bedroom.

Breakfast was better than I expected, cereal, toast and a cooked breakfast. All help yourself.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Although once again, I think reception staff really need to recognise the value of having proper printed maps of a town available rather than printing off a google map with tiny print that is almost impossible to read. But much more expensive hotels than this one seem to think that it is acceptable. (A pet rant of mine).

We got our room at a discount rate and I thought that it was good value for that rate. Had I paid more, I might have not been quite so happy.

Room Tip: Try to get a room not facing the railway station.

After reading some of the reviews I was a little aprehensive about staying here, but the price and location was the seller. Its like going back in time with the antiques and paintings. I found the staff helpfull, the bar food good value and the beer cold.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the corner bath.

We stayed there last night valentines night the staff were helpful lovely and accommodating, room was spotless with 2 bottles red wine but we were told if we wanted different wine they'd change it, they didn't want to put white or rose incase it was to warm when we got there. Place is very Victorian a lot of original furniture we will most definatly stay there again and we only live 2 stops away on the train. Well done guys we loved our stay, please try it before taking notice of all negative reviews we all have bad days xxxxx

We stayed in the "grand vic" as the locals call it and we're very dissappointed we were put on the top floor in a room that was dusty and damp. We had clean towels and bedding but the place hadn't been cleaned forever. The radiators didn't work and when we got up in the morning the condensation on the windows was appalling it looked like it was raining indoors.
The carpet was badly stained and the fire place hadn't been dusted as the dust was at least 1/2 inch thick on it and the mantle also the light fittings were thick with dust. In the coridor outside our room there were two sideboards and these were also covered in dust you could write your name it. I dont know what the cleaner gets paid for but it certainly isn't for cleaning the rooms.

It is cheap and you definitley get what you pay for here. Toilets in the pub are unbelieveable, never seen worse even in some third world countries! Language in bar horrific but then it is mainly all day drinkers that frequent the pub. Saw a drug deal taking place in the basement area. Apart from that the beer and wine is very cheap. Had to leave earlier than planned though as the landlord starting swearing at my children. Hopefully you will read all the reviews before booking this establishment

Room Tip: Book a different venue.
