Three of us went for Sunday lunch to see if the restaurant had improved from our last visit over 2 years previously, when frankly it was a disaster all round.
The welcoming was friendly and we were seated quickly. Unfortunately the table we were on was by an opening through into the larger restaurant area, so as I was the one sitting by the opening I had numerous diners and waiters/waitresses brushing past all the time, which was a little annoying, but if we did go again I would simply request not to be seated there. Other than this niggle, the rest of the restaurant area is nice and open and you do not feel squashed against other diners.
Our waitress, Laura, was attentive and we were not kept waiting for anything - in fact we could not fault her throughout the meal - her cheerful and happy demeanour made our day.
We plumped straight for the roast meal, my friend having the roast chicken and my husband and I sharing the roast sharing platter. The vegetables were plentiful and hot, the gravy was flavourful, however although the meat was cooked to our liking it was verging on lukewarm when it got to us. I mentioned this to Laura, but we did not want to wait for anything to be heated up and the meat was not inedible, so we just asked for the lack of heat to be mentioned to the chef.
The cost is very good and the atmosphere in the restaurant is buzzing and busy on a Sunday. I might try again for a mid week lunch with a friend, since it is very convenient for where we shop and to the coast . . . if the food had been consistently hot, then my rating would have been verging on a 5, since there really was nothing else food-wise to niggle us.
Better luck on our next visit.
