“Questionable...”

Other reviews say that here 'you get what you pay for', well I'm not even sure about that. I paid with the idea of having an evening catching up with email and then a night's sleep, and managed neither. While I cannot complain about the reception staff, the Wi-Fi didn't work, and the walls (2nd floor) may as well be made of paper for all the sound proofing they managed. I could hear every word of conversations both sides of my room, into the early hours, and with an early start needed I had only about 3 hours of sleep.
Other points which may be worth noting: the room TV is vintage, and small, the shower head is microscopic (presumably so guests don't use up the hot water...) and in my room the tiles looked to have blood stains on them. The whole thing was like walking into a 1990s hotel (at best) and perhaps that's an insult to the 1990s. I'd love to see the 'Hotel Inspector's' opinion of this vintage, er, gem. Oh, and take cash, because if you dare use any sort of card (debit OR credit) to pay your bill, you get stiffed for an extra £2 surcharge.
I will be trying my hardest not to have to stay there again.

Room Tip: The best rooms are the ones located in another hotel... :D

This was a weekend trip to take our well traveled Granddaughter to Cadbury World in Brum, but we always stay in Wolvo. if possible, as the hotels are cheaper and the natives friendlier.
The young man on reception was very personable and helpful; he even showed me how to use my newly acquired 'Samsung Galaxy'. We also exchanged a few words of 'yam yam', as I used to work in The Black Country many years ago, and still remember how to "spake loik we' The room was OK except for having a TV with a broken on/ off switch, and they ran out of hot water the following morning, and nobody serviced our room, but Hey! it's Britannia, we're used to this sort of thing, but we only paid £40 for the room including breakfast, so all in all it wasn't too bad.

Room Tip: If you are on Room Only, there is a brilliant Wetherspoons right across the road for breakfast.

Had to book here last minute as every other alternative within 10 miles of Wolverhampton was booked up. 1. Arrive to check in to be told there is a surcharge to pay by credit/debit card? How else would you pay other than to use magic beans. 2.Getting to room door and the old style punched card key would not work, back down the stairs and given a new key (no apology) funny this one didn't work either (its a sign run away!!!). Given another key (sort of half an apology??)Hoorah the key works but alas I had wished it didn't, huge family room with 2 beds smelling of cigarette smoke, bathroom held together by silicone and history. Room dirty cigarette ash on floor under bed, furniture from a skip, old CRT 15" TV in the corner that you would need a sniper scope to see from either of the beds.Chir by the desk looked as though someone had lost control of their bladder in it (photos attached to prove it. 3. off down to reception to ask for the duty manager and a refund, no duty manager was available so offered a different room, this was just as bad, the 3rd room offered was at best below average but I was beaten by this time. Breakfast was plentiful but awful quality and not helped by the old lady picking up pieces of bacon and sausages to inspect them with her bare hands and putting them back again at the buffet. I was out of the door within minutes and trying to put the whole think deep into a locked room in my memory. This wasn't cheap and booked as Superior Double so I will not have the you" get what you pay for brigade" shouting me down. Stayed the night after in an independent hotel a stones throw away for a tenner less and had WiFi, brand new shower, huge clean room with desk and flat screen TV and pleasant breakfast (The Ely House).

Room Tip: A good room would be in another hotel.

Incredibly poor, damp, moldy walls and rust throughout the room and that included the second room after complaining, Cheap rooms or not it most certainly is not in the hotel description, neither was the lack of hot water for a shower. The breakfast, well clearly the cheapest food they could find, poor quality and just a total disgrace.

The staff however were very helpful. I don't care how reasonably priced the hotel is, it's disgusting.

Room Tip: Choose a different hotel. However If you like mold and damp been held up by wallpaper, ask for room...

Stayed here on Friday 30th June. Just before I left home I checked reviews on Trip Advisor and got slightly worried as most were negative. Take no notice of negative opinions is my advice, we had 2 double rooms for £78 that's not each that's for both rooms. Bit shabby but the price reflects. Message to the moaners, If you want a nice Hotel your gonna have to dig a bit deeper. Ideal for Theater visits and concerts. What do these people want for under £40 per night.

As I was visiting my daughter at uni in Wolverhampton I decided to stay at the brittanica hotel ...what a mistake... The room they gave us was covered in mould and it stank..I asked to change it and they obliged no problem. The next room was much better as it didn't have mould ... But smelt of damp. I definitely would not recommend this place... Sorry
