We booked this for a romantic night away and did get a lovely room with a four poster bed to stay in for a good value price.

However, disappointing factors were:

Afternoon tea.
Soggy teacakes
Poor quality tea.

Dinner

Restaurant - reminded me of the smell in Butlins. Not romantic in the slightest.
Musty carpets.

The food at dinner was actually pretty good.
as was the restaurant manager whos' charm made up for the lack of charm in the restaurant itself.

Breakfast - very average. Coffee was bland. Buffet style. Busy.

Room Tip: ask for a garden room

It was our wedding anniversary and we stayed here for one night after a day at RHS Wisley. We were impressed with the staff, the room and the food. The hotel is in a wonderful setting with great views. Would stay here again.

Took a friend for afternoon tea for a birthday treat and we were treated to a most lovely afternoon. Nothing was too much trouble. Our tea was refilled on numerous occasions. We sat in the bar area and the staff were attentive without being overly pushy. Great value as we only needed one tea between the two of us. Beautiful cakes and scones. Delightful afternoon.

We stayed overnight after attending an evening wedding party at the hotel. When we checked in I explained mildly that with the wedding invitation the bride had sent us a code which would give us a discount when booking a room, but that when I made my online booking the code wasn't accepted. I only really mentioned it out of curiosity to see what had gone wrong but the man on Reception said quite curtly that it only worked for telephone bookings. "And anyway", he said, "you have a king-size executive room with a view of the grounds". I was at a loss what to make of this, especially since it was exactly what I had booked. I honestly wasn't bothered about the discount but I was bothered about the response, and it created a bad first impression.

After getting changed we went to get a drink at the bar. There were two barmen at work serving two customers and we were the next and only other people in the queue. It was 10 minutes before we were served. That's a long time to wait, especially when there was no obvious reason apart from general slowness. We signed the chitty to put the bill on our room and were staggered to see that the cost of our two gin and tonics was £25.90 (TWENTY FIVE POUNDS NINETY). I know that some of the other wedding guests went home earlier than they would have done if the drinks had been reasonably priced.

It was a mild evening outside, neither hot nor cold, but the hotel was massively overheated both in the public areas and in the guest rooms. Our room was almost unbearably hot even with the sash window wide open and I got very little sleep. Other people at breakfast were saying the same, and when we were checking out one of the staff on Reception said he was finding it too hot as well.

On the plus side we had a hot buffet at the wedding function and stayed for breakfast the next day and the food was good.

My family and I stayed overnight at this hotel on September 21st. The website portrayed the hotel as being special with an interesting history, thats why we booked this. The reality is it's an overpriced hotel that is very dated and has no atmosphere. We booked a deluxe room only to find the carpet had a large rip, the furniture was of poor quality and the cold tap on the bath was seized, so having a relaxing bath at the end of the day was not possible. We did reserve a table for the Saturday evening, but then we realised only two other tables we being used, we decided to go and find a restaurant in Weybridge and I'm glad we did. I would not recommend this hotel, you will find many other hotels are in the area offering better quality and at a lower price.

Perhaps a little dated by modern standards, but really nothing to complain about, room (ground floor, garden view) was very large and comfortable with a wet room type bathroom (walk in shower rather than bath), did not have dinner, but restaurant looked very appealing. Attentive, helpful, staff. Agree that TV channels a bit limited (with a focus on European channels oddly), and while wireless in available in public areas only wired internet in rooms, but, unlike some others at least its included. Would recommend and stay here again.

There are no baby changing facilities in any public parts of the hotel, not even a table or shelf within the male or female bathrooms that could be used. I was forced to change my baby on the floor of the Gents - disgraceful really!

We visited the hotel for a function in the Garden Room suite. The hotel staff were very friendly and efficient, the catering and drinks were of a pretty good standard. Also, the hotel and grounds looked very nice, a pleasant setting. Shame that my lasting negative opinion will be based on something that would be so easy to fix at a relatively low cost.

There were 6 young children under the age of 2 in our group and, knowing that the hotel is used for weddings, there must be a need for this facility. Maybe I should have used one of the tables in the foyer or the bar, that would make management address the issue!

Sadly, I wouldn't return to the hotel with my little one as a result.
