“Dated Four Star”
Reviewed 20 December 2013

The Oatlands Park Hotel stands in its own grounds, has ample free parking and is easy to find.

The hotel itself is showing signs of age with the bedrooms being very dated, with dark wood furniture. My room was on the small side, it had a desk and chair which due to the size of the room was unusuable. In common with so many hotels the rooms and hall ways were way too warm.

Breakfast is buffet service, I was one of the first in that morning and unfortunaetly most of the hot food was cold.

Other restuarants and bars are within walking distance of the hotel.

All in all ok, but not great.

The building is grand and the lobby welcoming. The room we stayed in was large. We went for a party and stayed overnight. They have a poor choice of room service only 4 sandwiches!! I asked for chicken and mayo but they were unable to make this and made no attempt to apologise, instead far too busy with staring at a computer! The party was licences until 12am but from 11am the bar closes to non residences! We then got charged for breakfast even though we didn't have it and they had the cheek to debit our account before checking if it was correct!! Poor hotel service, nice big room if a little dated now. Would not recommend to friends

Thank you for your feedback after your stay with us. I will certainly pass this on to our Lounge bar team and investigate why this happened as we had our bar opened till the end of the functions. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2014

Fantastic building, set on beautiful grounds, but the hotel is a little old and creaky. Some will say that this will add to the character, however when a howling wind is blowing in through your closed bathroom window, not sure that's character.

Rooms are spacious and well equipped and clean. The reception area is quite impressive, however it lacks a little something, not quite sure what that is, but it's a bit cold and unwelcoming.

Had breakfast in bed and the food was fine, although the two soft boiled eggs I ordered came with no egg cups!

Beautiful grounds, and the building looks impressive from the outside. But once inside you can see that things are getting a bit old. I suppose it adds to the character of the place, but I think the rooms for example could use some refurbishment. But it's certainly a nice experience to stay here at least once, especially for people from abroad, as it's a typical British country house/hotel.

Nice hotel, looks lovely, but is an older house and it is beginning to show. A bit of a rabbit warren inside. Clean rooms, but thin walls and doors so one can hear everything from the neighbors. Nice grounds and set far enough back not to hear the busy road. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
But just doesn't make the 4 star, but is certainly not bad.

Room Tip: Try to get a room overlooking the lake, added to this there is less externallight as the front of th...

We dropped in for dinner and although the food and service was good the restaurant itself had no ambience or atmosphere and is in need of a serious makeover... The outdated decor lets the whole experience down!

This unfortunately, is not a destination restaurant... More of a conference/wedding hotel

Very nice grounds. Good service from all staff. Excellent room (although very, very cold when we first went in). Modern well equipped bathroom. Excellent and massive bed. Very well positioned bar. Breakfast was good quality and a wide choice was available.
