Very pleased our neighbours recommended this pub. Arrived for lunch, sunny afternoon, and found the garden was a great spot to sit and eat. Wild mushroom bruschetta was fab, beef carpaccio was also great, mains we had the same, Crab Tagliatelle which was also excellent. Service was friendly and happy. We would definitely return, though I think evenings would be advisable to book. Will give that a try next time.

This is our second visit in a couple of months and the food was delicious and all the staff were very friendly & helpful, we were a party of 4 and we sat in the garden. What made our visit possible this time was when we visited last time in March we were in the garden but they did not have wheelchair access into the pub, however after talking to the owners they purchased a ramp for wheelchair users.

As someone in a wheelchair since a car accident in 2008 I have found it very frustrating to find a lot of pubs & restaurants do not have any access at all, the usual stupid response is the building is listed or health & safety reasons.

However I thoroughly recommend the Hurstwood.

We went for dinner on a Friday night and the pub was rammed. We had booked which was good or there's have been no chance.

The service was good and the food delicious. Pub food but with a little extra. Food was fairly expensive but worth it.

Recommend a visit and we're quite fussy!

At the time of reserving a table we were asked if we could make it a later time as the restaurant would be busy, to which we agreed. When we arrived the welcome was non existent and we were shown to our table, given a jug of water and the menus. A half an hour later, failing to attract the wait staff attention my husband went to the bar to ask if we could order some wine. He duly ordered the wine at the bar and was told a waitress would come to take our food order. Another twenty minutes later he again went to the bar to ask for the waitress so that we could order our dinner. When she eventually arrived we asked how long it would be before we got food and were told there were 6 tables ahead of us. At which point, we gave up, having waited nearly an hour and not having even placed our order.

There did not appear to be anyone in charge and the wait staff were busy and lacked direction. This venue should either seat less customers or get more kitchen staff to cope with the tables they have. A very disappointing evening, as we left not trying the food and hungry!!!!!

We had been to the Hurstwood for lunch but this was our first time in the evening. The atmosphere was wonderful and the pianist was a delightful added touch. Although the restaurant was very busy the service was excellent and timely, and the food exquisite. I am confused by the restaurant being described as serving American food as it was anything but. A thoroughly enjoyable evening - thank you.
