We booked for lunch today for four of us very much at the last minute. No problem with the booking and we decided on arrival to eat outside on the terrace. They have a set 2 or 3 course menu at reasonable prices and also an a la carte with a good selection of dishes.
The staff were welcoming, efficient and charming. We chose a bottle of red on arrival on the recommendation of the young waitress behind the bar and it was delicious, maybe a little expensive but worth it. The choice on the menu is impressive. I chose to have a chicken liver starter and followed that up with crab linguine, delicious except the chicken livers were over cooked. Others had crispy duck and salmon to start. By and large the food was well cooked and accurately prepared. When I asked for the bill at the bar I was asked if everything was alright. I said it was except for the slightly over cooked chicken livers. There was nothing wrong with them they were just a tad over cooked. The waitress apologised and produced the young trainee chef who also apologised and said he had seen the dish go out and wasn't happy with the way it looked. It's impressive that they took so much trouble to apologise and in fact the bill was reduced slightly. I hadn't asked them to do that. I understand the owner/chef wasn't there at the time although I understand he arrived later. It is rare to fined staff in pubs so proud of their of their reputation that they react that way. We will certainly return and recommend this establishment unreservedly.
