Description: Lovely country pub on the Ashdown Forest serving fantastic food & ales with a great garden. Seb, Dave & team offer a warm welcome and family atmosphere.

This is our little local, welcoming, yes very busy on weekends and lunchtimes, so expect to have a wait. This is not a Gastropub, so therefor doesn't have exclusive dishes, but decent pub food. The decor is in keeping with this in mind, it's 'olde world'e'. There are other pubs locally, all of which are of the same mind; Gastro isn't the be all and end all.The team are great, the Sussex ale is great, and the rear garden is the perfect spot for a Pimms and some sunshine.....accompanied by nachos!
Unlike the previous review, which on their other reviews contains dreadful grammar, it's a Gem in the heart of the local countryside. Dogs are welcome, horses too.
Perfect for a few pints, steak and kidney pudd is a must!

Read reviews between the lines, everyone has different tastes and expectations.

Enjoy!

Thank Cagneydog

The Foresters arms is a run down village pub with management who have no idea how to run a food business. The tables are sticky - so much so you need two hands to move the mats from their adhered positions.
The food is very cheap prices and even cheaper "quality." All frozen stuff probably from 3663 or Brake bros. The plates are cold with what should have been hot food. The sauces congealed, the chips soggy and cold and the soup so extended with cornflour it tasted more of cornflour than soup. The service is abysmal with wait times of over 1 hour and the dusty, tacky plastic table displays with unlit candles complete the 1970's ensemble.
If you want to waste an evening waiting for cold, tasteless, inedible food with shoddy service, you have found the right place.

We took my mother here for Sunday Lunch and weren't disappointed. The food was excellent and the service very good. The Curry was particularly good and although we didn't have the roast that looked delicious. The pub was very busy so I think it is advisable to book.

Lovely little country pub, attentive staff and service that many larger restaurants could learn from.
A great menu with plenty of choice and a fine selection of daily specials.
We booked a table uncertain if it was necessary on a wet windy Wednesday evening, as the placed filled I was glad we did.its comfortable but some might think the tables too close but not for us. The food arrived in good time and the portions were plentiful. Give it s go you won't feel let down
