I hate camping, so my wife and I decided to try glamping - basically camping in a shed rather than a tent.
This place has a small number of glamping pods, and they're great. You get headroom, heating, lighting, a decent sized veranda with chairs and a table, all in a very picturesque setting. Inside the pod, there is carpet, and a couple of shelves, but little else so make sure you bring blow up beds. We had a double in ours, which was just right. There were some families and people with dogs using the pods, but it looked a bit snug to me.
Tavistock is only a couple of miles for any essential shopping, eating out, etc. There is a bar on site, but its only open between 7 and 9 (not sure if that's different on weekends). It does serve food, and even though I didn't eat there it looked like good value.
The shower blocks were clean and well kitted out, although you must keep your torch charged up! We didn't worry as we noticed there was lighting around the complex. We then discovered that it went out at 11, leading to a very awkward toilet trip.
We bought our glamping experience from Buy a Gift, and got a very good deal, but I understand that if you buy direct you can get some good deals as well.
They also offer 'normal' camping for those insane enough to want to stay in a tent and pitches for camper vans and the like.
I would imagine I will be going again next year, and dragging some more non-campers with me.

Second time now within a month that we have visited for long weekends. Superbly clean site with toilets and showers which were cleaned often during the day. Everything on site you could need including a drinks machine with fair prices within the washing up area. Excellent place to visit and staff were very friendly. Booking online was a piece of cake.

You will not be disappointed..

Room Tip: If you want a family camping break which is relaxing with fantastic scenery and very clean showers a...

We recently camped here for 5 nights with a large tent; the large pitches were more than adequate. It is a lovely campsite and very impressed with the Eco-friendly modern facilities; friendly and helpful staff and easy booking through pitchup.com.

Recently returned from 3 nights in 'Hare' Pod. We booked a family pod but there were just the two of us which gave us a bit more room.

The pods are set under trees and are well spaced out, each pod had it's own patio area and room to park a car. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather so were spoilt by being able to eat breakfast and dinner on the patio, such a lovely setting.

The shower and toilet area was kept impeccably clean, absolutely spotless. Good recycling facilities and even an area for used barbecue coals. The laundry area was spacious should you need it, and the washing up area was light and airy and under cover which is handy.

The site itself is well placed for visiting Dartmoor, the National Park Visitor Centre at Princetown, Yelverton, not being very far away and great place to explore. We enjoyed a couple of good long walks, so many to choose from.

Would really recommend the pods as an alternative to camping.

Room Tip: The pods on the left side as you look at them are more on the shadier side 'Hare' Pod is one...

We arrived Thursday afternoon and booked into our pod. The staff were very welcoming and recommended the walk from Langstone Manor to Pew Tor. The views from the summit are well worth the easy ascent and the boys climbed every granite outcrop, leaping from stone to stone. We returned to the campsite with a healthy appetite and weren't disappointed with the home cooked meal we enjoyed, in the relaxed surroundings of the Manor House. The next morning we enjoyed hot croissants from reception before hiring bikes at Devon Cycle Hire and following the Granite Way to Lydford Gorge. The pod experience was ideal for a short break and meant we were out enjoying ourselves, instead of putting up and taking down a big tent. The site is well maintained and the shower block is clean and modern. If you have active teenagers and are looking for a staycation holiday on a budget then I'd thoroughly recommend pod camping at Langstone Manor.

Thanks for your review and we're so pleased you had fun on Dartmoor - Langstone Manor is lucky to have Dartmoor at the back door and as you say it is one big playground for active youngsters! You'll have to try letter boxing next time!

Camped here recently. Very friendly staff and a warm welcome. Had problems with our car on the way my husband was taken by one of the owners to one of the nearby garages. Excellent clean and 'green' facilities. Well signposted. Clean site. Camping spots well laid out. Lots of info dotted about explaining about the wildlife. Lovely bar serving lovely food which was reasonably priced. Small playground for the children. Really enjoyed our stay here was really quiet and peaceful. Would be lovely if there was a small pool for something extra to do with the children but all in all a very nice place to stay. We will miss our little robin who visited our tent and invited himself in to look for crumbs. Would definitely stay her again.

Camped here for a few days very recently with family, very well sign posted, excellent facilities- there is even a bath as well as showers. lovely welcoming staff. There is a pub within the grounds which also serves very nice food. The camping spots are very well laid out, with various information signs dotted around informing people about the local wildlife. Where the caravans are there is a play park, which my nephew made lots of use of! It is in a really beautiful spot. Would highly recommend it.
