“Can't Fault it !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 March 2012

I could find little or no fault in this wonderful Farmhouse B&B. From the moment you enter the front door, you will note this place is spotlessly clean and exudes a " freshly pained" air. The bedrooms are a good size and very well kitted out with every little extra, including a welcoming vase of fresh flowers (nice touch) The beds are wonderfully soft and comfortable. Judith is most attentive at breakfast, offering a huge spread and cooking almost anything you choose. The Fresh Fruit Salad is delicious. Peter will nearly always pop his head in and give you a cheery "Good morning" despite the fact he has been up from early morning milking the cows. Very friendly hosts.. You feel you are staying with friends.
If you arrive in the dark, you will be greeted by the hooting of the local owl and in the morning, the pheasants will be calling in the fields. If you enjoy the countryside, this is the place.
We will definately return.

Thanks to word of mouth I booked myself into this wonderful B&B for 6 nights in January to visit family nearby. The whole place was squeeky clean and fresh, with flowers in the bedroom and a tea tray on arrival. It was just like staying with friends, but private as well. The breakfast table offered a huge selection of cereals, jams etc. and of course the menu for a cooked breakfast. Judith cooked me the creamiest most delicious scrambled eggs I have ever tasted. My hotel manager husband was so envious when I told him all about it that we are going down together in a few weeks for a long weekend. Thank you Judith and Peter, you are wonderful, kind hosts.

A wonderful place - our best B&B experience ever. Judith was so warm and welcoming, and the B&B the perfect mixture of homliness and privacy for guests. A warm fire and tea awaited us when we arrived, and in the morning our little daughter was treated to a tour of the cow and calf sheds by Peter, and kicked the ball for the lovely collie puppy Kit! Can't recommend highly enough!

Located a few miles outside Tavistock, this is a lovely and comfortable B&B. The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and well-decorated, with fresh flowers in each room. Breakfast was ample, featuring local eggs and meat products. Large sitting room for the B&B guests, with loads of local information. Judith and Peter were delightful hosts and we enjoyed chatting with them about farming issues and their trip to London. Daughter Helen ably hosted the first night we were there. The delicate and occasional "moo's" reminded us we were also on a dairy farm, but otherwise we were oblivious to the cows. This was a great value, at 50 GBP/night for a two night stay.

Peter & Judith made us most welcome and provided excellent accommodation. Tavistock is very pretty and the park is of course a long-time favourite. This is also a great jumping off point for travel into Cornwall (as it is a stone's throw away across the Tamar River nearby). Two decent little pubs nearby (one downhill nearer the river and the other back up closer to the main road).

Higher Woodley Bed and Breakfast is on a farm near Tavistock. The setting is lovely and very quiet and Peter and Judith have thought of everything that makes for a comfortable stay. Guests have their own drawing room with a fireplace, television, and more maps, books, and guides than one could ever use. Breakfast is uncommonly thoughtful and delightfully presented. The rooms are small and well designed with loads of towels and such. Guests have their own refrigerator and there is always stemware and cuttlery for use. On the lawn is a lovely table and chairs for summer evenings. (The cows are kept way out back, so one gets the pleasure of the dairy farm without the smell.) Higher Woodley is near Dartmoor, excellent hiking, and many interesting historic sights and National Trust properties. We arranged to meet friends from the UK for a long weekend at Higher Woodley; it was so nice that it felt like a country weekend out of an Edwardian novel.
