Description: The Galley is Salcombe's longest established restaurant, having first opened in 1962, and has the most wonderful view from its dining room.Where possible we use traceable fresh local produce and have an extensive menu including Salcombe Lobster and Crab, and a great selection of fish which is all from day-boats landing in Plymouth and Brixham. We also serve Westcountry steaks and chicken, and 'Gressingham' duck, and we also serve a selection of vegetarian dishes. We look forward to welcoming you.

Visited the Galley on 14 June, a quiet Monday night but stiil came away totally satisfied.. Impeccable service from smiley well trained staff and super food again. Cood value house wine. The scallops were fantastic. So much better than the pubs in Salcombe which are still serving pub food at Galley prices. Try it - you won't be dissapointed.

This is not cool & hip, & no good for sitting outside. It is a good old fashioned fresh food resturant. Local day boat fish is on the menu of course, along with a good look in from all other food groups, scouced locally + serving of vegetables is included with mains. Service was informal, happy & efficient.
Price for a relaxed three courses including wine and posh water £35.00. Just the ticket.

Salcombe is a brilliant setting but a pity there are not restaurants to match - at least one! We thought the Galley ticked all the boxes, the ambiance was good, the location was perfect and the service very good but the standard of food was disappointing. It was almost as if they were nearly there but did not have that touch of finesse to make the leap. All the dishes were ok, but that's all, with the exception of the lobster which I should have sent back because it was overcooked, rubbery and no flavor. I am so annoyed I didn't!

We recently dined at the Galley and the service was awful. We waited 20 minutes for a jug of tap water (this is all we drinking but I bet it would have come quicker if we would have ordered champayne!). Then they said that my monkfish had been dropped on the floor and they were quickly doing me another one. 20 minutes later and the "just cooked if not alittle undercooked" monkfish arrived and it was ok.
I wouldn't go back. The Dick and Wills restaurant at the other side of Fore St is much better and better value for money with great views.
