Spent the day in the newly opened Spa, started with a hot stone massage and then had the use of the facilities followed by lunch.
The staff could not have been more attentive and friendly and my daughter and I felt totally at ease. Lunch was lovely too.
Parts of the external of the Hotel were not finished, but work had been left neat and tidy to not detract from the lovely facilities.
Can't wait to go back.

We returned a couple of weeks ago from a two night stay at the Salcombe Harbour Hotel, and although there are still a few building works going on these in no way affect our stay at the hotel.

On arrival in the narrow streets of Salcombe we were meet by the very friendly staff and our car was taken to be parked up as the car park at the hotel was not available at the time. We then had a guided tour of the hotel before being whisked off to our river view room with balcony, which was first class in every way with several little extras like slippers, dressing gowns, binoculars and a rug to put around your knees" if brave enough to sit out side!!!!". Also there was a Nespresso coffee making machine available with fresh milk in small bottles in the fridge above. The bed being very comfortable we enjoyed a good nights sleep once we had sorted out the light buttons!!

Dinner was a choice off of the set menu on the Saturday night and off a high standard of quality and presentation with something to suit even a fussy eater like my self, served with a friendly word and smile at all times, if I have one negative comment to make about the hotel it would be that the exact same menu was given to us on the Sunday night which we felt for the high standard of the hotel was a little disappointing.

Breakfast was again very good with all the usual things on offer and set us up nicely for the rest of the day again served with a smile and friendly word.

I see some negative points from other people but we can only speak as we found and that was that the hotel is off a very high standard all round and thank you for giving us a great weekend and we will hope to visit again in the near future.

Room Tip: A river room is a must

I would like to take this opportunity for your kind words and I know everyone here will be so pleased with your feedback. I will investigate as to why the menu did not change on your second night as this is the standard we offer along with an A la Carte menu available each evening. We very much hope to be able to welcome you back to the hotel again in the very near future.

We visited this restaurant in this hotel for Saturday lunch about 3 weeks ago as part of a family weekend. The décor is tasteful and the bar area is spacious with enough room to accommodate a party of ten people. Shame that the view over the harbour was obscured as the curtains were closed. Was this to hide the on - going building work? the waitress was pleasant enough and although quite pricy, the food was good. However, we were totally shocked when the bill came as the waitress casually said that the card machine was not working and we would have to pay by cash which was about £150 - not exactly a small amount. Thinking that it was a problem that had just occurred we fortunately had enough cash between us. - but she then said that it happens all the time at weekends!!! Firstly, we should have been informed beforehand that they only took cash at weekends and secondly, the excuse was 'its a rural area' - what a load of rubbish!!! We live in a rural area and it does not affect card transactions at all. I would not recommend this restaurant at all. Do they expect hotel guests to pay cash for their accommodation too? I don't think so.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on the Jetty here on this site, I am so sorry that the issues you encountered marred your visit. I can assure you that this is not a regular occurrence and the member of staff simply should not have implied that this was the case. In actual fact we lost our entire wireless internet on that particular day and as our card machines run wirelessly we were unable to process payment. Should you not have had sufficient cash we would have found an alternative solution for you and I am extremely disappointed that out team dealt with this situation so poorly. I do hope that you will visit the Salcombe Harbour Hotel again in the future in order to receive experience that you should have done on your first visit.

Faultless, even though not fully open! Service, couldn't do enough (thanks Jo). Food superb, dj excellent (nice touch), decor is tasteful and facilities are top notch. The cocktails are prepared by an expert. The views are great from rooms, although a small design fault as the flat roof in front of some rooms, restrict it slightly.
Dog friendly was so welcome in a quality hotel. Valet parking whilst car park is being finished was handy, as parking in Salcombe very limited.
We are regular visitors to Salcombe, so this is a real incentive to return more often. We will be back for another weekend, we can't wait!

I have just returned from a weekend stay with my husband, the hotel has many positives not least the view from the balcony of our generously proportioned, 2nd floor bedroom. The bathroom was also sizeable and modern with a hint of luxury. The bedroom was thoughtfully laid out, with a comfortable chaise longue facing the gorgeous view of the estuary. There was a well stocked mini bar, complete with Nespresso coffee machine, complementary gin and the arrival at 6pm of ice and lime to accompany. The real selling point for us was the first class cuisine, which really stood out. However there were far too many details falling short of the description of the expected service described by the hotel's website and other tripadvisor reviewers. The daily menu didn't change while we were there, as advertised. The restaurant atmosphere was really quite spoiled by the intrusive music that appeared to be encouraging a party atmosphere, fine if service had finished but it started just as we began our main courses, and then as guests left the dining room and lounge, staff made us feel that our presence was no longer welcome, and this was 10.30pm at the latest. The food was excellent but difficult to concentrate on the elements that had clearly been prepared with great skill and attention to detail. Some of the waiting staff seemed to carry egos far exceeding their service ability. They clearly had no interest in the menu or the food which the Hotel has taken great trouble to promote. They appeared apathetic and disorganised and we felt as customers we were more of an inconvenience at times. Details such as finding dirty robes in the bathroom on arrival, a coffee pod from a previous guest still in the coffee machine just added to the feeling that this Hotel has to up its game in order to deliver.

Room Tip: 2nd floor rooms have a great view

This traditional British hotel has had a major refit and the results are outstanding. A great deal of care and thought has gone into every aspect, with elegant new bedrooms provided with everything from fresh fruit to binoculars. The public areas are also well designed and with excellent facilities. The staff, mostly young, are exceptionally friendly and enthusiatic - clearly very proud of their hotel and nothing seemed too much trouble. Car parking is a major problem in Salcombe but the hotel has overcome this by use of valet parking, at no charge. We found this service quick and efficient, beware, however, that the directions given on the hotel's website no longer apply as a new one-way system has been introduced in the town and you now have approach the hotel by a complicated route around the town. Food in the restaurant was good, although the table d'hote did not change that much over the three days we were there. Our only reservation was the presence of a strange odour in the bathroom - damp? drains? It is well worth paying the supplement for a sea view as the hotel's position, overlooking the esturay, is outstanding.

Room Tip: Pay for a sea view

A one night stay at the weekend in November. Dinner bed and breakfast. Newly refurbished with building work still on progress.

The situation with the building work was explained well when I made the booking enquiry. On arrival and throughout employees were attentive and friendly. Open to questions and clearly enthusiastic about working at this totally refurbished hotel we were made to feel very welcome. Some attention to customer care required for it to be 5 star as there was an error in taking my dinner order and the wrong main course arrived which was disappointing as it left my husband eating on his own whist another main was cooked. It would have been nice to have, say, a complementary coffee to make up for this. Also I noticed staff in the bar could have been more attentive to a non resident who was complaining about the lack of a view (due to building work there were sheer curtains in the dining room adjacent to the bar so no view of the estuary).

The rooms are lovely and very stylish, and the bathrooms first class. Beds are super king and very comfortable indeed. A struggle to plug in the coffee machine and kettle were a minor frustration.

Ice and lemon served to each room for pre-dinner drinks (complementary sherry and gin in the room) were fantastic touches.

Decor throughout the hotel was outstanding.

Food very good overall although we felt the breakfast could have been more creative and the portions more generous.

It's early days and all looks very promising for this hotel as it nears completion and opens fully shortly. The employee engagement is very high and hugely commendable as the focus is truly on making guests feel welcome.

Thank you for taking the time to review the hotel here, your feedback is really important to us. It is really pleasing to hear of the enthusiasm of the team, whilst this is of course why they were selected but it's always nice to hear of the genuine warmth and excitement they are showing. All other comments in terms of proactive service and attention to the finer detail are very welcome and these are areas we are currently working very hard on. We are currently in the process of reviewing our breakfast offering and I thank you again for your observations. We very much hope to be able to welcome you back again to the hotel in the not too distant future.
