Love the location and our stay was nice, it was a little average for what we expected. It was nice and clean and the service was better on some days. We enjoy the days on the sun terrace. Breakfast was a little disorganised and the American waitress seem to act as though she owned the hotel rather than getting on with her job. We enjoyed dinner one night in the resturant. The other nights we eat out as we usual do when visiting Salcombe.

Corporate trip, organised by myself was effortless.

Elle at the hotel sorted an itinerary, we had organisation down to the minute with all the flexibility we needed.

All staff very helpful and more importantly they handed is over as the day progressed either to restaurant manager or whoever was looking after us at any point in time.

Hotel rooms everyone was very complimentary and whilst not huge, fitted out beautifully and worth paying for a view!

Breakfast great, restaurant great for big catering, compliments all round.

A number of moans on here about parking. It is tight but not your problem, give them the key and your away, couldn't be easier.

Pool small but beautiful, massages and spa well complimented by guests.

Cinema nice touch, will be back!

Thanks to all the hotel team.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. everything from check in to check out was perfect. the room was lovely, and the entire place was clean and well decorated. the hotel is in a stunning location with plenty of space on the terrace to have a drink and enjoy the view. breakfast and dinner were well presented with good portion sizes and plenty of taste. all the staff we met were absolutely fantastic but i would like to single out in particular Jo, who i believe works on reception (although she seemed to always be around to help) as she was so welcoming and extremely attentive and Havier, who always made the effort to make our stay extra special. they were both a credit to the hotel as nothing was too much trouble for them. the management of the hotel also appeared to be excellent. the spa was gorgeous and the staff here were also really helpful and friendly. Salcombe is a lovely place to visit - the beaches were beautiful and also not too busy. would recommend this hotel and this location to anyone considering going, but especially couples. will definitely be back!!! thanks for a lovely stay

My wife and I were guests at a wedding reception held here. Good location & food, nice premises but the best part was the staff. Owing to a mix-up with the order, my wife who is diabetic was listed as having ordered a meal which was unsuitable. When asked if an alternative could be provided the catering manager kindly arranged this without fuss.
In addition, as we were staying in a guest house some miles away and no taxis were available, a member of staff picked us up from there for the evening dance and returned us back later.

Although we have stayed at one other Harbour Hotel in the past this was our first visit to the Salcombe Harbour Hotel. We had originally booked a short break in an 'Inland Room' but on reflection decided to upgrade well beforehand to an 'Estuary Glimpse Room' which Harbour Hotels were good enough to do for us on this occasion free of charge. When we arrived at the hotel to check-in we were shown to our room by the very helpful crew member Chloe. When we saw the room it was quite clear that we had been allocated an 'Estuary View Room With Balcony' on 300 level (effectively first floor) which had excellent albeit slightly interrupted (by the sun deck) views of the estuary. The room was spacious, airy, very well equipped with all the other facilities which have been documented by previous reviewers including complimentary gin and sherry, tablet computer with wifi, and patio doors which opened out onto a balcony with two chairs and a table. As the weather on the day we arrived was almost Mediterranean with 25C+ temperatures we could have done with some air conditioning at times but noticed that there did'nt seem to be any anywhere around the hotel. On the second day of our stay we tried out the spa, sauna, steam room, and swimming pool facilities which were all excellent and compared very well with others we have experienced both in the UK and abroad.
Some people have criticised the small car park and valet parking arrangements at the hotel but in our experience both seemed well organised and we had no problems whatsoever.
Some minor criticisms are as follows:-
- service in the Jetty Restaurant was occasionally a bit slow and seemed a little disorganised at times. There did'nt appear to be anyone supervising the team either at dinner or at breakfast?
- the room lighting system was perhaps a trifle too sophisticated for its own good. Do we really need four possible levels of lighting?
- the steps from the hotel reception up to road level are clearly in need of renovation and one wonders why this has not been catered for already.
- some slightly irritating cosmetic work is still underway at the hotel. For example, speakers were being fitted on the sun deck during our visit.

But in summary our recent stay at the Salcombe Harbour Hotel proved to be well beyond our expectations. We would therefore like to thank all the crew for their help in making it such a lovely experience - well done to you all!!!

Room Tip: Rooms with uninterrupted views of the estuary are at second (400?) and third (500?) floor level.

We needed to get away and therefore booked a last minute deal to this hotel, having not seen tripadvisor reviews or heard of Salcombe before. We managed to get an amazing dinner bed and breakfast package. Salcombe Harbour reminds me of a typical 'Soho House' hotel, but unlike Babington House (which I have stayed in) I believe that there is more substance aswell as style.

Twice a view has taken my breath away, this was one of those times! As soon as we arrived, I knew that I wanted to upgrade to a room with a view. A wonderful lady on reception (can't remember her name, but she was blonde and not a new member of staff) was patient, welcoming and courteous and catered to this as well as my dietary requirements. We viewed two rooms we could upgrade to. Both lovely; one larger with a glimpse of the estuary, and one room much smaller with a full view. We went with the smaller room. It was a very hot day, so the balcony was welcomed! Everything we needed was in the room and all top spec. Loved the coffee machine and candle.

We thought the spa was excellent, it was completely empty and I liked the fact we could control the jacuzzi, as some places are on a timer instead. Larger than a typical hotel spa.

Food- delicious. But, lots of things on the menu were not fish. I just think when you're on the harbour you need as much fish as possible on the menu. Everything was cooked to order, so my dietary requirements (gluten free) meant that I could pick almost anything from the menu and they just catered to it. Lovely and quite a rare experience. I did feel that the quality of breakfast didn't quite match the food that we had the night before. It was nice that the beans were put on the side for me as they wasn't sure if I could eat maize. Much better to be safe than sorry.

Yes parking is not ideal, but staff make it as stress free as possible. They literally take the car off of you and sort it. I do find it hard to fault this hotel. Staff were exceptional. Loved the service through and through. We've stayed in lots of hotels, and this one was a nice surprise. If we get a nice deal, we'll be returning, but I would be extremely reluctant to pay full price, despite the wonderful experience we've had.

Room Tip: Don't do what we did and book an inland view room. Nothing can beat sitting on that balcony (per...

The hotel is in a beautiful location with outstanding views of the estuary. It has just been extensively refurbished, resulting in high quality furnishings and decor.

That said , there are some issues: car parking is woefully inadequate, meaning cars have to be shuttled around continuously by the staff. You will not be able to 'pop out' in your car; retrieval is a major production.

Strangely, for a recently modernised hotel, there is no a/c anywhere and ventilation appears to be confined to throwing open the doors, which resulted in a stuffy atmosphere in the public areas and quite warm bedrooms.

There is only 1 small lift which the staff also use as a service elevator, so people with limited mobility could find this hotel challenging, particularly as the street exit is up some ancient metal stairs or via a longish walk uphill through the car park.

The room was quite small but well furnished, with some nice touches such as binoculars, complimentary gin and sherry, knee blanket for the balcony etc. The hotel information is supplied via an e-tablet, which was missing from our room.

The restaurant is competent, although some of the front of house staff are obviously still in training ! But there is nothing special about it. Breakfast is served and there is a wide choice.

Overall, this is an expensive hotel that is a little short on facilities but the location is quite special.
