We were a group of 11 and struggled to sit for lunch at peak time (13:30) on New Years Eve. Having tried all the usual suspects (Wardroom etc.) we decided to give The Fortescue Inn a try.

They happily accommodated us for lunch, cheerily combining tables for our group - service with a smile.

The food was a little above average for what is very much a locals’ pub but decent portions and better than most pizza served with friendliness and good grace made for an enjoyable impromptu lunch.

Worth a visit if you are passing.

Thank Adam F

Great little pub. Only drank in the various area where the football screens are. A very good atmosphere but the beers and not the best. Some good brews on draft but in my opinion are not 'kept' very well.

Hi, thank you for popping in. I am a little unsure as you did not write what the problem with the beer was? We clean our lines every week, the beer lines were replaced for new this June and I have been keeping a good cellar for almost 25 years now. The beers are all very fresh as we have been very busy and as a consequence am unsure what is the problem was or also what quality or lack therof beer you are used to drinking? I do not subscribe to any cask marque etc as I believe this an unnecessary expense having for many years held this along with various CAMRA and good beer listings I have enough confidence in my cellar keeping not to chase awards or align myself with anyone who deems we can only be of any good if holding such titles. If you do have a problem it would be helpful to maybe ask at the time of consumption as all our barrels run out every 70 pints, although not the case today sometimes the last few pints can be not so good as the first, thus allowing me the luxury of possibly checking there actually was a problem (which of course occasionally happens with a live product made from natural ingredients) as opposed to broadcasting a subjective potentially damaging 3 star review.
Please think a little deeper next time you have an issue and speak up in person
Best regards
David

What a fantastic place... was made to feel so welcome from the minute we arrived to departure... Room was lovely, breakfast superb and we decided to eat in the restaurant, which we thoroughly enjoyed... five stars all round and a big yes we would definitely stay again.
