No55 in Salcombe has to be the best meal we've ever had. There was a relaxed ambience to the restaurant where you received food in a good time but were in no way rushed to eat and leave, like with many others. The food was beautifully presented (attached some photos) but wasn't ostentatious in any way just excellent produce and prepared with true care.
The front of house staff make you feel as if you are a friend visiting them. The restaurant feels very "open" with light background music and every table was having a great time, chatting and laughing and enjoying superbly fresh locally sourced food. It has a very modern feel with clean lines and tables that don't feel close together and a great selection of wine and the prosecco cocktail was perfect for hot weather!
Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the Front of House Manager was a delight, she couldn't do more to make your visit the best it could be. The chef produces incredible meals, we had 3 starters between us because we couldn't decide and I'm glad we opted to try meals we wouldn't normally have as the cod loin on lobster bisque was superb. What we liked was we'd had an incredible meal, enjoyed the ambience and location but didn't feel stuffed as we have elsewhere so we could enjoy amazing puddings too which we never have elsewhere.
I cannot think of anywhere else to eat in Salcombe, maybe even Devon - it's worth making the trip but as we found out - you have to book in advance if you can as the phone never stopped ringing for bookings.
Try it soon - you will not be disappointed!
