We have a son in a wheelchair and there are so many things we can't do but a trip on the Rutland Belle is not one of them. It was so easy to get him on the boat and we all enjoyed a lovely trip doing something which is normally impossible for us. We had a great time, very informative and relaxing. We all enjoyed it very much, from my husband and I, in our 60's, to my 10 year old granddaughter.

Lovely boat ride, informative info given by tour guide, refreshments on board.
Fresh wind some of the way, so jacket may be needed even on sunny days.

On Sunday 02nd July, a party of 14 from Thrapston PLACES2GO (U3A) boarded the Rutland Belle, Rutland Water.

A wonderful day made even moreso by the marvellously sunny weather. Lots of information given by the captain's commentary.

Our basic trip was £9.50 per head but there are lots of upgrades that can be done, cream teas, osprey tours, bitdwatching etc., absolutely your own choice which one.

A smooth smooth ride at a lovely pace so that you can take everything in and the scenery.

So easy to book, either by phone or online.

Go on, book one now! there are more places to visit, Barnsdale Gardens, Oakham and it's castle, Gates Garden Centre, and such a lot more.
Hopefully will take another party on another trip on the 'Belle'

Thank RedMiz

A must do on a warm afternoon on Rutland Water. Glorious sunshine so we sat on top deck. To enjoy 45 min cruise around reservoir. Commentary was excellent & very informative. You can get off on the other shore & explore for about an hour if you wish bore returning on a later boat. We were there mid week so just pitched up - but in school holidays you'd need to book I think. If you want to take pics take camera as mobiles have to be switched off.

Thank you for your review. We're glad you enjoyed your trip with us. As you mention, it's possible to break your cruise with a visit to Normanton, on the South Arm of the Reservoir which has the landmark church, an ice cream van and food kiosk, the Normanton Park Hotel and pleasant walks along the side of the reservoir. The Rutland Belle departs the Normanton Jetty at 20 mins past the hour with the last return trip usually being at 3.20 pm but often extended at the Captain's decision if the weather / demand warrants it.

We were staying at Barnsdale hall hotel and took a nice walk along to Whitwell where we saw the Rutland Belle. (21/6/17) Luckily they accepted debit cards and we went aboard for a very relaxing and informative trip. We even saw some Ospreys flying overhead when we sailed over to Normanton. It was glorious weather and the cool breeze from the water made it even better. We learnt a lot about how Rutland water came into being along with plenty of other titbits about the local area from the crew onboard who were very friendly.
Unfortunately we found out too late to participate in one of the osprey cruises.
Thank you and good luck
