Just home from a wonderful week in this beautiful cottage. So comfortable, full of antiques and interesting bits and pieces. Lovely lounge, huge bedroom and a delightful little courtyard which is a perfect suntrap for a BBQ or quiet afternoon with a G&T and a book. Great local pub within 5 minutes walking distance; excellent food there - steak night - 2 steaks with all the trimmings, plus a bottle of decent wine - £20. Rutland Water, just about 8/10 minutes drive is beautiful and worth several trips. Barnsdale gardens are a must; 39 gardens, all created by the TV gardener, Geoff Hamilton, and only 5 minutes drive from the cottage. Julia and Martin are wonderful hosts - there if you need them but never interfering. All in all a perfect week, and one we hope to do again. Thank you Julia and Martin.

We stayed at Sticky End for three nights en route to our holiday in the Peak District. All the pictures do not do credit to the beautiful cosy cottage. It really is breathtaking inside beautiful cosy furnishings and wonderful antiques and historic items. It has a lovely kitchen, the lounge is warm and comfortable with the little library full of old books and everyting you could possibly need to make your stay perfect. Extensive selection of cds dvds and games if it rains! Upstairs the collection of teddy bears and toys brought a nostalgic tear to the eye. Martin was very helpful and charming. The village is lovely with a pub with a cinema and an amazing bakery around the corner and close to Rutland Water and Barnsdale gardens. It really is perfect and we will be back as soon as possible!

The cottage is fantastic, well set out and excellently equipped, a real home from home. I loved the antiques, and bits and pieces, although it was a bit "cluttered" on some of the surfaces, which I thought was a bit impractical, but that’s just a personal opinion and me probably being too practical. The location of the cottage is great for all the main towns and markets, and some fantastic walks in glorious countryside are only a few moments’ drive away. The Sun pub in the village is great for a beer and some good honest pub food, and is only a short walk away, as is the village store. There are many great pubs in the villages around Cottesmore, many at the start and end of a good walk. We can't recommend this cottage more highly.
While "charming" has a very twee connotation, it is the only word that describes this little gem adequately. This cottage is full of delightful little treasures, lovingly collected and displayed by the owners. The "library" was our favourite!
It also is the best stocked holiday home we have EVER stayed in. The owners seem to have thought of everything you could possibly need, starting with a pint of milk and ending with cotton buds!
We had a great time and will certainly be back.
We have had a wonderful week based at “Sticky End” holiday cottage in Cottesmore.
“Sticky End” is a delightful thatched cottage, full of interest, clean, and relaxing. It is extremely well equipped with everything provided for a comfortable stay.
Martin and Julia welcomed us on arrival and were friendly and helpful.
The cottage is conveniently based for exploring the lovely Rutland countryside and surrounding areas – with many places to visit.
We enjoyed a very warm week and spent our days exploring the area, with the added pleasure of returning to “Sticky End” at the end of the day. Particularly relaxing was sitting in the pretty little garden with a drink listening to the trickling sound of the water feature.
A wonderful stay and we hope to return again.

We enjoyed our stay at Sticky End for Christmas 2014. The cottage is very clean, warm, well equipped and very comfortable. Martin and Julia had thought of everything including decorated Christmas Tree and decorations and of course Mince Pies to make our stay home from home! We even had snow on Boxing Day which made the cottage and village look magical.
