“A gem of a cottage in the crown of Rutland”
Reviewed 15 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

A charming cottage in a picturesque area. The owners have gone the extra mile with this cottage which is obviously furnished with great care. There is ample parking on a gravel drive. Having been built in the early 19th century, the doorways and beams are low, which adds to the charm. Just remember to duck if you are tall ! If you are looking for somewhere peaceful and in lovely surroundings ,this is the place for you.

“Fabulous Cottage”
Reviewed 8 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

The cottage is very well appointed and the owners have gone the extra mile to make the cottage cosy. Everything you could need in a holiday cottage was there. Very clean and well maintained. With lots of interesting extra things such as old books to peruse.
Preston Village is very quiet and we found lots to do in the surrounding area. Recommend visiting Oakham Castle, Richard III Museum in Leicester, Stamford and Uppingham also very nice.

“A quintessential English Cottage”
Reviewed 29 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Autumn Cottage is quite simply 'perfect. The Owners have gone to extreme lengths to provide a truly memorable 'home from home'. Cute, cosy and so comfortable with everything that anyone could possibly need provided right down to a sewing box for those small but potentially embarrasing emergencies. My 'other half', who admits to having a touch of OCD, was so impressed by the attention to detail and cleanliness throughout. No stress, no pressure and a perfect base to explore the Rutland area. Having traveled extensively, we both rate Autumn Cottage as our No 1 choice. To corrupt the words of Arnie "we will be back!"

Thank you for your wonderful review. We are delighted that you enjoyed the cottage and the Rutland and Stamford area. We strive to keep the cottages in tip top condition and an extension of our own home standards of décor & cleanliness, so your positive comments were very rewarding. Hope to welcome you back to Autumn Cottage, or indeed Sticky End or Little Thatch, soon.
Warm regards, Martin & Julia

“Perfect place to stay in stunning countryside”
Reviewed 23 February 2016 for a stay in February 2016

I cannot recommend Autumn Cottage highly enough. It is cosy and comfortable and packed full of everything you could possibly need to make it truly home from home. It has a log fire as well as central heating, fully equipped kitchen, luxury bedding and towels and, best of all, it is spotlessly clean. It really is the perfect place to stay for a peaceful holiday in the picturesque Rutland countryside. The owners have thought of everything because they really do want you to have a lovely time - it certainly worked for us!

“Quintessential English cottage with everything you could possibly wish for”
Reviewed 20 January 2016 for a stay in January 2016

Having stayed in many self-catering accommodations all over the world over the years, we can easily say this would be one of the best. There is an enormous amount of thought gone into provision of every detail, making the cottage a true home away from home. From the very well equipped kitchen (with everything you could need in a kitchen), to extra toiletries in the bathroom, the cottage provides everything you need.

Rooms are small but cosy and the ceilings low for anyone very tall but this is to be expected in this era of cottage.

The double bed is incredibly comfortable and lovely warm, fresh bed linen. Be aware that the main bedroom is accessed through the second bedroom.

Free wifi is good although mobile phone coverage is poor so a wander around the garden is required sometimes to get signal. TV has a good range of channels and a DVD player supplied with small supply of DVDs and a radio.

The village location is very quaint and quiet with lovely views over the fields. There are no facilities in the village (shops/pubs) but access to surrounding villages and the towns of Uppingham and Oakham are very quick and easy.

If you are looking for a quiet get away with a chance to recharge, this is the perfect location.

Thank you for kind & very positive feedback. The mobile signal is restricted by the thatch & goes with the territory, although some mobile networks are better than others. We do always make the layout of the bedrooms clear in the adverts and indeed when sending quotes.

“Our stunning stay in Autumn Cottage!”
Reviewed 9 January 2016 for a stay in December 2015

Through the years we have stayed in many a lovely home all over Europe, particularly in Britain. We rate Autumn Cottage as certainly one of the best. Of course the county of Rutland and the quaint village of Preston are to a certain extent responsible for this, but the house itself is in a league of its own. Well-furnished, very comfortable and in everything showing the owners' great sense of detail in making their guests happy.
Highly recommendable and we sure hope to return again in the not too far future!
