Many of the rooms are in need of decorating and renewing, including very old tv's in some. Food and restaurant staff good. Stayed week starting 18th March 13, contracted horrendous stomach bug as did any guests who were confined to room for 48hrs. Clearly the sanitised hand gels freely available and encouraged were not effective as we were advised of same outbreak earlier in month.

Hello There

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay. The hotel bedrooms are part of an on going refurbishment.

The hotel has recently had an outbreak of the Norovirus, which we are now clear of. The Norovirus is not confined to one place. It has been affecting business, schools and hospitals nationwide. The hotel has been working round the clock to rid the bug and have now been successful. The hand sanitisers are not a prevention and are only affective with good hygiene, ie regularly washing hands with hot soapy water. Asking guests to stay in their rooms for 48 hours was the procedure advised to us from the Environmental health department. Unfortunately a hotel is not like an office or school, we could not just send people home, therefore as part of our duty of care to everybody in the hotel this is what we did.

The majority of our customers who have unfortunately contracted this virus were more than complimentary of how the staff managed the situation and kept them comfortable.

Kind Regards

Nice warm welcome on arrival. Had booked a room with sea view and chose to be on the top floor. The view was perfect. The dog came with us and she was also made very welcome.
The room was a good size twin. Lots of hanging space, lots of hangers and extra pillows. The en suite was the cleanest and best we have ever seen.
Lovely menu every night for dinner and restaurant staff so friendly.
Very hard working and pleasant staff, nothing was too much trouble.

Just have to mention that it was a bit cool in the lounge.

Can we have wi-fi in the bedrooms please for next time we come, because we will certainly visit again.

Helena & Len Rich & Madison the dog.

Room Tip: 4th floor front great views.

To be honest I booked our stay after checking websites, forgetting that we had stayed here 5 years ago! Fortunately, our stay then had been very pleasant, and we had a very nice stay this time.
The Lindum is a large, and somewhat rambling, 8o bedroom, family run hotel in a very good spot, a few minutes from the beach, the pier and the town centre. It must be a herculean task for a family run hotel to continue maintaining and improving facilities, particularly with a hotel of this size and layout. Work has however continued, and since our previous visit the then very nice dining room has had an excellent makeover, and I understand a number of the bedrooms have been nicely updated.
We booked very late and had a standard room which was very clean, nicely decorated and had a small, but very good bathroom, with an excellent power shower. The furniture was a little tired and the bed a little small but for the budget price it was very acceptable. As I said, the layout is rather rambling but there is a lift which improves access to most rooms.
Food was very good with an appetising and substantial breakfast served by excellent staff, who were efficient, helpful and very friendly. Dinner was a very pleasant occasion in the ambience of a welcoming and comfortable dining room. There was a good choice at each course and portions were generous and well cooked. Once again service was excellent and to top it off there is a reasonable wine list at reasonable prices.
There is good size lounge and bar with drinks at competitive prices. Plenty of room to sit and relax and watch the world go by.
I am sure that you will receive a warm welcome if you visit ‘The Lindum’ as all the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. If you have a problem with anything talk to reception, they are very resourceful.

Room Tip: Go for a Superior Room, ideally Sea View. It's worth the extra. If you have problems with your r...

We were in a 'superior' sea view room and there was nothing superior about it! The room was stiffling hot with no heating on so didnt sleep a wink. Window was small so had to take turns looking out to sea. In fact we had to move out of each others way to get round the room. On a positive note at least it was very clean (in fact the whole hotel smelt of disinfectant). Receptionist didnt ask if we had a good stay on departure - she must have seen which room we were in and thought better to ask! Also, as there were a lot of senior citizens staying it seemed slightly crass to have a tips jar on reception, to be fair it had lots of paper money in but encouraging old folk to hand over more money when they have paid for their room and probably eaten meals and put money behind the bar seems unneccesary. Luckily we saw the funny side of our stay so laughed a lot.

Hello There

We are sorry that you were not happy with your stay but to defend ourselves we must make the public aware of the following points.
1) Our heating system is thermostatically controlled and if the heating was off it will have reached its set temperature of 22 degrees, you could have always opened a window ?
2) The window in the room which was small that you had to take turns looking out of is actually 3.2ft by 4.5 ft.
3) We apologise for the reception staff not questioning your stay on departure, this is standard procedure and we shall be looking into that.
4) The hotel does cater to a lot of senior citizens, the majority of whom enjoy their stay and are impressed with the staff and service. Other guests who are here on more than a one night room only stay, do come for dinner, bed & breakfast and during the time they are hear have the full experience and recognise the great lengths the staff go to make them comfortable. I do not understand why age should dictate why we have a gratuities basket. It is not forced upon anyone and the fact that it had money in it really answers your own question. People who have enjoyed their stay.....want to leave a tip !!!
5) Your confirmation was actually for a sea view double bedded room which is what we provided, we did not confirm at any point a superior

Besides this we are happy that you were impressed with our cleaning standards and you had an amusing weekend.

Kindest Regards

01/03/13 - 03/03/13 - early arrival noon so unable to check into room until 2pm - fair enough. Receptionist a bit 'snotty'. Apparently they had a 'vomitting bug' within the hotel a fact that was not advised to us on registration but which the local council were aware of. Food good and generally staff very helpful. However, on leaving hotel and arriving home a number of our party were very ill and I understand an elderly lady with another party was hospitalised. Would have been nice if all our party had been advised that there was a problem within the hotel.

Hello There
Many thanks for your review.
Firstly we would like to apologise if you felt that our reception staff were not to their usual standard. We will look into this as it is not usually the case.
With regards to the sickness bug in the hotel, at the time of your stay we were honestly un aware of the severity of the problem. We had implemented procedures for our guests and staff to try and control the situation by informing people to use hand sanitisers that were in all guest areas and encouraging people to be aware of their personal hygiene.
After consulting with our local environmental health agency we have made a VOLUNTARY decision to close the hotel for the forthcoming weekend and bring in external specialists to completely sanitise the whole hotel including guest bedrooms and public areas to irradiate the problem. We must stress that this is not a food or hygiene issue but is something that has been brought into the hotel. This can be confirmed via our local environmental health agency.

Kindest Regards
