“suprisingly brilliant.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2013

we decided to book a stay here for the whit bank holiday weekend.we originally booked 2 nights and ended up staying a further night (grabbing the last room ;).

we did not know what to expect as peoples opinions differ .i think really it comes down to what you want out of a hotel, for us it was entertainment and keeping our 3 year old daughter occupied.
we were not dissapointed on both fronts,it was fantastic.now let me explain that we are not the "drink till you drop and ignore what the kids are up to" type.
we like to chill out without worrying about getting into arguments and so on with drunken "holiday makers".
maybe we were lucky ,but this hotel had brilliant guests and fantastic staff and very good lighthearted entertainment, the kids are allowed to get involved and as the night goes on,more and more of the parents do too (to our horror, lol).

breakfast is very good ,everything you can think of having for breakfast is available.

we had the evening meal in the restaraunt on the friday ,and there was a great choice there too.
you could have a bit of whatever you wanted eg.pork joint roast topped off with a 5oz sirloin steak followed by fish and chips ;).
there was soup and rolls, small wraps and plenty of different desserts that looked quite expensive ,but they were all included in the £15 per head price (drinks from the bar, extra).

the rooms were fine ,not the ritz, but adequate for our needs, although a small mini fridge would not go a miss. free view channels, nice comfy beds and the walls did not appear to be paper thin like in some places we have stayed.

the bar....not bad prices £3.35 pint carlsberg..£4.60 for a large house gin and tonic.£1.40 slush puppies and milkshakes for the kids.

all in all it was a really ,really enjoyable weekend and we enjoyed it so much ,that we are going again on friday:).

9 out of 10.

sorry forgot to mention the swimming pool....excellent,,,and as good as it looks on the website.

Room Tip: we were in room 27 ,which only overlooks a flat roof,,no seaview but it served its purpose.

My husband and I took our 3 granddaughters to St ives hotel for 1 night last weekend, we all had a fantastic time. We were in Room 33 which was huge, it had a double bed, 2 single beds and a travel cot. It had 2 double wardrobes and flat screen TV, bedding was crisp and clean. The restaurant is modern and spotless, we had a lovely meal on the Saturday evening and a delicious breakfast the following morning. The entertainment Sat evening started at 7pm and our girls had the time of their lives dancing and joining in with games. The pool is quite small but adequate, girls loved the arts and crafts activities. Will definitely stay here again with our grandchildren but wouldn't be our choice just as a couple, totally family orientated. Thank you St Ives.

Room Tip: Room 33, no sea view but quiet and very large

Thought it strange that the hotel website doesn't show photos of rooms. On arrival it became obvious why! The family room consisted of a double bed and sliding doors to what was like a cupboard/cabin for the children. Carpets and furniture all marked and well worn. Hotel felt old and shabby with endless corridor and steps to get to room which wasn't well serviced as someone had stuck a sticker from a pair of socks on the room mirror, toilet dirty and hairs on kettle. Pool busy with children coming in dressed in school uniform for swimming lessons. Couldn't face staying the night - lost the deposit and night's accommodation charge and left.

Room Tip: Don't book unless you've stayed before and therefore know what to expect of the place.

We stayed here the last 4 days of the school holidays, the children love it and getting a little tired of seeing reviews that say full of children and children's entertainment this is a family hotel in the school holidays what do you expect?? .
They seem to have a new food manager in the restaurant who is fine but makes you feel quite awkward and I did address this the suit is smart but then a little over the top!
Food was okay for what you pay hot food is lovely but the deserts are a little poor of late. The staff are great steph , tam Ryan , kev clown , and the very talented Adrian , keep the kids busy . Rooms are great clean and warm with plentiful hot water no they don't have travel soaps ect but who these days doesn't take that with them. This does what it says every time it's great for everyone a real break just out of Blackpool in a great hotel see you in may :)

We wanted somewhere to stay for easter school holidays near Blackpool but away from the hustle and bustle and with a special offer of 4 nts for price of 3 we booked Mon to Fri. There was great family entertainment in the evening that suited our two girls age 7 and 10 and arts and crafts activities daily. The restaurant was excellent and all meals were lovely in a buffet style. My kids loved to choose from a wide variety at breakfast and dinner. The local area was very nice and lots to do for the children and a beautiful beach weather permitting. The staff were very friendly and our room was comfortable with a separate bedroom for the girls. I would recommend to friends and would return in the future.

Stayed recently at Easter, brilliant for families, kids everywhere, entertainment good family fun, my kids, boys, 11 and 7, loved it. Well worth paying a little extra for apartments, will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: Ring direct and ask for bigger rooms.
