“A few changes”
Reviewed 17 August 2014

This is my third review in just over a year, and I thought I would be fair ,and update people on the changes I have seen .
We stay quite a lot ,and we enjoy the warm feeling of seeing the same staff at reception ,who are a credit to the hotel .but the bar staff keep getting chopped and changed a lot ,and some of the real characters have now gone ( Paul behind the bar in particular), and it does not have the same vibe anymore ,although there are still a couple of good lads who work there (Curtis and josh) .kevin the known does his brilliant show at 7 for an hour ,and then the main entertainment is just a pub quiz and a game of go fetch,in between some awkward silences .paul Martin has now emigrated and I feel the management should have done more to replace him like for like instead of ,what seems to be a cheaper alternative.we sadly will not be staying on Friday nights anymore ,because of this.

Saturdays are still as good as ever ,with the non stop hard working Adrian catch,he entertains the kids and adults from 7 until midnight ,and the only time he gets a rest is to call the bingo numbers out at 8.30.
As for a Sunday,it's always well worth getting up with a hangover to grab breakfast and then get in the ballroom at 10:30 to watch Gary gizmo the magician ,,he will have you rolling with laughter with his little jokes ,that go over the kids heads.

One thing that I always notice is the amount of parents that let kids as young as 2 wander around on their own ,there is a door at the back of the hotel in the games room ,that is always open ,and I dread to think what could happen if a child wandered off ,or worse! This is in no way the hotels fault ! It's down to parents switching off just because they are in a nice environment .there are no gates anywhere ,and a child can easily walk out onto the main road.

The food is as good as ever too.
All in all ,I would always reccommend the st Ives to people ,but I feel they have messed with a winning formula.

Room Tip: Don't get a room above the ballroom if you are someone who goes to bed early,,there's nothin...

lovely hotel, good food, friendly staff, clean and comfortable.only down side was,we came back from Lytham proms late & unfortunately the hotel car park was full,so wehad to park on the roadside, which meant we had to move our car by 10am the following morning.

Room Tip: book straight through the hotel & not through booking.com. you will get a bigger room.

My husband, my 2 year old daughter and I stayed at this hotel for a weekend. Great location, right across the road from the pier and beach. Check in was fast and pain free. Receptionist was very helpful. Room was great, clean, flat screen TV on the wall. Breakfast was served until quite late on the weekends which was good. Checkout was also at 11am, which provides ample time to get up and organised without rushing after breakfast. We will be returning very soon.

Excellent child friendly hotel, great breakfast buffet, childrens entertainment and facilities. The hotel is deally situated opposite the beach. The staff were helpful and friendly and the room was clean and well furnished. It was like a mini Haven/Butlins within a hotel environment. We will certainly return.

I returned on 26th July from another holiday at the St Ives. Had a fantastic time, my son had a ball, made friends with loads of children, swam in the pool every day. Rooms spotless - house keeping staff were superb, especially Ping! Would totally recommend this as an ideal family hotel where adults and children can enjoy a totally relaxed, safe and friendly environment. Meet the same families several years in a row who all return time and time again.

Me and my family stayed here a few years back and i can happily say we have returned every year since, We booked for bed breakfast and evening meal, The room was clean, The staff were very attentive to our needs and the food was lovely!
All round a very nice hotel, With good entertainment for kids, My only downfall with this is that the sauna/steam room was never kept hot so it was more of a warm room and our party were scattered throughout the hotel we just presumed with us being a group booking we would be put together or atleast on the same floor.
On the whole tho absolutely beautiful and we look forward to seeong the staff again in the next few months
