“Fantastic stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 February 2012

Just returned from our first visit to The Grand, taking advantage of their Sunday night deal.
When you walk into the hotel you know that this place is going to be something special.
Apparently a Grade 2 listed building, they have managed to blend the contemporary with the old, incorporating several of the original features.
We were fortunate to benefit from an upgrade and we were told by staff it was a lovely room.
We certainly were not disappointed as we had a spacious well decorated room with luxury bathroom and seaviews.
The Spa facilities were an additional bonus which we made full use of.
Food was excellent in the Cafe Grand, although we did notice that people on the next table were having problems as several items on the menu were not available as they had been busy at lunchtime, however this did not effect our selection when dining.
At all times the staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
If we were looking to criticise, the only small point would be the lighting in the room in that the black lampshades and lack of direct lighting in the bathroom made it difficult for the 'other half' to put her makeup on!

Room Tip: Room 217 is a corner room with good views.

Dear Prisoner7,

Thank you for your recent stay at our hotel, it’s nice to hear that you enjoyed your room, the spa facilities and your meal in Cafe Grand during your visit and I’d like to thank you for taking the time to post a review.

Since installing our new kitchen range we have been constantly developing our Café Grand menu.
We were testing dishes on a ‘daily specials menu’ that was running alongside our main offering, items on this menu were constantly being changed as we developed, received customer feedback or just simple sold all the items, this is the only explanation that I can have for anybody having a problem with ordering food.
We have now completed all development of food and are moving onto our wine list, hope this explains all.

Regards,

Derrick Holland

I have just returned from a 2night stay at the Grand in an executive plus room.
I just be to a regular visitor but have not been for the last 2years because of what I felt was a drop in standards but I was again tempted to go by the recent trip advisor reports and a very good offer obtained on the web site.
What a surprise I had. The reception I received was outstanding, my cases where taken to my room, and the room w a s very large, spotlessly clean, very well equipped and perfectly decorated. The only slight problem was I could not receive wi if in the room but after telling reception this was working within a very short time.
One of my concerns previously was when you entered the dining room you were not met and escorted to a table but my how things have changed. A very charming and efficient man escorted you to your table and the waiters were very attentive the whole evening
The food was excellent with plenty of choices.
I spent my days in the pool area again with efficient staff providing food and drinks.
I had a very restful 2 days and full marks to all the staff,
You certainly deserve your 4 star rating.

Dear Bunty44.

Thank for your recent review, this takes us to 150 Trip Advisor reviews, Wow!
And what a glowing report, I was discussing it with the proprietor today and he really appreciates your comments, quote “They don’t get any better”

What is satisfying to me is that by and large it’s still the same team.
It shows that with yours and other customers constructive input it has helped us enhance our customer service, we may make a few hiccups along the way but we will always try to remedy the fault and improve. We want to enjoy you enjoying yourselves!

Thank you for your custom, and to all my team for their hard work.
Hope to see you again at The Grand soon.

We are anually invited to a Dinner dance at the Grand and treat oursleves to stay for the weekend. We have stayed twice now and cannot find one fault with the hotel and the service you recieve. When we arrived our room had been upgraded and had sepectacular all round view of the Bay. The breakfast was 1st class I do liked it when it is table service. The evening meal was delightful and again the service by the waiters and waiteress was superb. Can't wait for next time.

The Grand was booked by my husband to celebrate our birthdays/anniversary at the end of October. We've stayed at the Grand before in different category rooms, all of which were very comfortable and excellent value for money at the prebookable weekend rate. On this occasion he booked an Executive Plus room and we were fortunate to be allocated a room at the front of the hotel, which was very spacious with a fabulous seaview, which is a must for me. On arrival friends had booked a bottle of champagne with delicious strawberries & cream, which was promptly delivered by a member of the Grand's friendly staff.
We thoroughly enjoyed both the continental & full English breakfast, which was all perfectly cooked. However, on this occasion we did not dine in the Cafe Grand as were meeting friends from the local area. We have dined at the Grand in the past and have always enjoyed the food but I can't comment on the newly opened restaurant.
The rooms are very comfortable & the molton brown bath products are a lovely touch.
The contemporary bar area is really lovely & a great place for a quiet drink or for meeting other residents around the seated bar area - nice atmosphere!
We love Lytham and could stay with friends in the area but I can't imagine visiting without a stay at The Grand. It was an absolute pleasure to spend our birthdays/anniversary at one of our favourite hotels, without doubt the best boutique hotel on the Fylde coast.
Will we return - Absolutely!!!

Room Tip: If it's for a special occasion book the highest category room you can afford.

I stayed at the Lytham Grand for a weekend with friends, taking advantage of their excellent January offers. The rooms were very comfortable and good size, while the location is excellent, right on the front. Cooked breakfasts cost £6.50 which is really very good value as they are all freshly cooked. Only small problem was on the first night when thebar appeared to have run out of malt whisky-howevr, all credit to the staff for turning this into a positive byt geting some bottles from a neighbouring hotel next night -that's real customer service. Otherwise, the amenities are superb - a friend used the pool and sauna and thought it well up to standard.

We will be back next January!

Room Tip: Ask for seafront view-stunning views.

Pros:

Fab breakfast (fresh orange juice, beautifully cooked full English, friendly team).
Modern decor - Spectacular views of the beach!
Beautifully clean room
Molton Brown amenities in suites
Friendly F&B staff.
'Can Do' attitude of Manager - Brian.

Cons

Reception watched as dragged bags to lift. Had to ask them to help my fetching a luggage cart.
On check out we were charged extra for additional room keys issued throughout our stay - (Reception basically handed over keys throughout stay without explaining there would be a £2 charge for each key).
Bathroom amenities not replenished in suite throughout stay.

Room Tip: Go for broke and upgrade to suite.. the views are immense

The Grand is ideally situated on the main promenade at St Anne's. The outlook is pleasant and there are some nice walks along the sea front and into the town. The hotel is beautifully furnished, with modern decor and a classy feel to it. We found the staff pleasant and helpful. We chose not to use the restaurant in the evening as we were meeting friends but the menu seemed perfectly fine, despite the limitations set by kitchen refurbishments. (these did not in any way disturb us during our stay). We opted for the healthy breakfast which was included in our tariff. This was quite enough for us and included a good variety of fruit, cereal, toast etc and as much tea or coffee as we wished. The room was if anything on the small side and we had to dance round each other when getting changed, but the bathroom was modern and well equipped with MB gel and shampoo. I would have liked a shower cap and some conditioner though! There was a modern wall mounted TV with several freeview channels. There was also a lovely pool and spa area which unfortunately I didn't
have the chance to use but will do next time! On the whole I thought this was a great hotel and would stay there again. The only down side was that there was a family with noisy children close to us who were rather a nuisance to ourselves and some of the other guests. This is one of the pitfalls when booking a bargain and I would certainly not blame the management for that. I would not hesitate to recommend a stay here for a relaxing break.
