The hotel was beautiful jus a few gripes
Only an expresso coffee machine in the room no kettle to make a normal coffee or tea we were provided with complimentary water and cola but we are in England the nation of tea drinkers and after chatting to other guests in the hotel this we weren't the only ones who thought this a bit bizzare ,we were informed we could get a good cup of tea in the cafe on the beach. Later we did ask the cafe staff in the hotel for some tea bags ,but you shouldn't have to ask at a Hotel of this standard.
The continental breakfast was lovely but very tiny plates not even big enough for a slice of toast .
Pool and spar area squeaky clean and comfy relaxation guaranteed. The food ok plenty staff but service not very good waiting on food and staff busy folding napkins while our table was heaving with dishes . Reception staff excellent nothing to much trouble kept our bags safe. Overall a good stay but could be perfect

Dear Tracy B

I understand yours and other guests comments regarding the tea.

Seven years ago we were receiving the same comments when we stopped providing a cooked breakfast within the room rate and changed to continental breakfast only.

“How would we survive", “an unthinkable act”, “reconsider”, “outrageous” were just some of the many comments we received.

However, seven years on guests comment on our high standard of continental breakfast, how they enjoy the fresh fruits and that there is no need for cooked items.

Maybe people are getting more health conscious and avoiding fully cooked breakfasts, were we a part of pushing people into this direction? We certainly had the foresight!

So we have replaced our kettles with a Nespresso machine, I don’t need to say anymore about the quality of this product as it is internationally recognized as the number one coffee machine brand.

But what are we doing about tea? I hear you ask.

Well, at the moment, nothing!
I’m probably getting four customers a week commenting on it, not a very high percentage, and don’t forget we will provide tea into your room, albeit for a charge, so you're not without!

We also have an interesting development coming to the hotel soon, I won’t divulge more now but I’m sure it will more than compensate for having no kettle in a room.

Anyway rather than me rant on about kettles, “along with irons they are illegal in Italian hotels”, I would like to thank you for your visit and appreciate you taking the time to post a review.

Kind regards
Derrick Holland

stayed at the grand on the 17th of August for one night, there was no family room free but managed to get a great rate on 2 deluxe rooms. Service is still as good as ever (we stayed last year for a wedding)
Pool was nice and warm for the kids, staff in the restaurant on a Saturday night early evening where great with the 3 kids all under 4. Food was brilliant too !

Would stay again if its with the kids or just with the wife, brilliant hotel great location, loads to do

My husband and I have just returned from the Grand in Lytham St Anne's this was our first trip there and stayed there on a recommendation and the fact that my uncle was having his birthday celebration . We couldn't fault anything from speaking to Hannah prior to our arrival as we were needing to arrange balloons for the evening dinner and also we were coming up from the south east coast and she put us in for an early check in .Thank you .We have never experienced such friendliness and eagerness to make our stay a memorable one . The room was excellent . I Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel .

At the front looks a classic seaside hotel, but inside its been well refurbed with a chic bar/café and at the back a major add on with well appointed modern rooms and a good functional spa.
Very well maintained, and the staff clearly take pride in their work - special mention to Derek hotel manager who was very helpful.
A good continental brekkie is included, but you pay extra for cooked, at first glance I thought this was mean, but on day 2 sensible, stops you stuffing yourself
My only grouse was the Nespresso machine in the room, not that in itself but Tea wasn't in the room. Most Brits want a cup of tea to start the day.

Room Tip: If you can run to it the executive rooms are worthwhile

The room immaculate and breakfast varied and inviting.Back again in the Autumn to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary. Always recommend this hotel to friends and family.

We have just returned from a night's stay at the Grand. It was absolutely fantastic. We took my 87 year old mother and her friend. Both have mobility problems and one is deaf and the other nearly blind. We had booked the superior rooms and my husband and I had one category lower. All the rooms were superb with high quality furnishings and toiletries and all had a sea view. We had a swim which was lovely whilst the "oldies" had a cup of tea.
Dinner was absolutely superb, my husband said his venison was the best he had ever tasted. They even turned the music down so my mother had a better chance of hearing things. Breakfast was equally superb.
The staff were among the best we have ever come across. The receptionist who greeted us actually took us to our rooms and made sure we knew where everything was and how it worked.
We would definitely stay there again.

The Grand is probably the most stylish hotel in the area and we like to go to have drinks on the terrace and supper at the bar. The standard of presentation is impressive, the quality of food excellent. What has let The Grand down for many months is very flakey service over the past couple of months this has turned around and the service is equal to the venue, making each visit a total delight.

Dear V100SLD

Thank you for posting your review of Cafe Grand, I’m pleased that you have noticed an improvement in service over recent months.

Over the years we are constantly trying to improve all aspects of service here at the hotel, however I hope you can appreciate this is especially difficult over such a busy summer period, especially whilst bringing new employees onto the team.
So I'm glad you have seen the improvement, and we will still be working at it!

A quick note to future reviewers of Cafe Grand that we do have a specific Tripadvisor page for restaurant reviews.

Kind regards
