I stay here on business regularly and wish all hotels were like this one. It is a lovely old building and if you have to stay away from home on business this is the sort of place you want to be.
This place is clean and quiet. The staff are very friendly and helpfull but not over familiar. All the rooms I' ve stayed in have been individual in style but very comfortable and well equipped.
The bathrooms are good with great showers and piles of fresh towels. The spa is excellent with a decent size swimming pool, the most powerfull jaccuzzi I've ever been in and a good sauna/steam room - robes and towels provided.
The food is superb - I've never had a bad meal there.
I feel safe at 'The Grand' which is important for a woman working away on her own. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have experienced the 'delight' of being hassled at a hotel by drunk male guests enjoying their annual conferences a bit too much. It's not pleasant.
I have never experienced anything like this at 'The Grand'.
The Grand is by far the best hotel in the area I can't recommend it highly enough, they have anticipated correctly what guests desire in a hotel.
