“Surely they haven't run out of money?”
Reviewed 16 July 2013

Erm, not sure if it's a money thing but having a mixed decade style room has got to be wrong. From the front of the building, the lobby, dining room and my room (35) decor is up to date and looks great. However, my bathroom had a horrible sickly green bath and basin from the 80's and the shower looks like the one we had in the 70's. Other than throwbacks, everything else was great. The bed was comfy, small flat screen tv, limited channels, stuff for brews. The staff were smartly dressed and always polite. Breakfast was a full english with more than enough options and surprisingly tasted better than other help yourself hotels I've been to. Location is right on the front and a few minutes to the shops. Perhaps a guide map to your room on the back of the giant key ring might help. I could walk to the shops in less time than it took to get to my room. Slight exaggeration.

We decided at the last minute to stay for a few days when we realised how wonderful the staff at this "Old School" family run hotel were when we went for a meal at their fantastic restaurant which some friends had highly recommended.

The staff all go out of their way to help, and provide anything and everything you could want and just made our stay wonderful, it was great, anything that you wanted, all you have to do is ask.
Big thank you to all the hardworking (and very pretty,) reception staff,
and a special mention for the wonderful , hard working managers and back room staff

Old, family run, traditional, what more could you want ?
Wonderful food ,superb service, fantastic rooms.
How hotels should be.

We will certainly be coming back again.

Thank you all very much.

Iain Deeved.

Room Tip: Ask if a family boutique room is available, fantastic !

We booked at short notice and got what we thought a decent price for DBB. The staff are fine. Rooms seem to have been renovated recently but seem quite retro in style although were clean and well equipped. Dinner was though poor. My wife's fish was inedible and the place smacked of mass catering so unless we were unlucky can't agree with the positive comments on dinner. I do agree with the comments on the prices of drinks. We only bought one. Breakfast was at times a bit of a scrum but plenty of choice and the food was hot and set us up for the day well. The place does seem geared towards families and with a decent sized pool would be good for kids if the weather was bad but just opposite are miles of very clean and glorious sand so if the sun shines it is a great location. It is the sort of place I'd liked to have found when our children were smaller but not what we want for just the two of us. We wouldn't return but that is as much about us as the hotel although dinner did spoil it for us.

Room Tip: Splash out the extra £20 for a bigger room.

A great place to stay. Our daughter loved the evening DJ who centers most of the night around the children, playing party games and children's quizzes. Stayed in a standard family room which was exceptional, only problem is the rooms are a little too warm but tastefully decorated and very clean.
The food was outstanding, a lovely evening meal and superb full English breakfast.
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely stay again.

We visited for a weekend break. It was not too far to drive and reviews looked good.
Everything was fine - room, food, service etc. The only grumble we had was the price of drinks £9.80 for a glass of wine and a pint is excessive by anyones standards and you could understand why the lounges were empty at night - think all the other guests must have been having a drink in their rooms.
On Friday night we had entertaiment - a young man singing 'easy listening' songs and he was very good - just right for that type of place. On Saturday it was a different matter, they had a childrens entertainer - blowing balloons and playing childrens music, then a childrens quiz - all very well if this was Butlins, but hardly appropriate here as we only counted five children. All the couples were not impressed.
However despite the downsides we will definitely return here as the situation- right on the front -and the package as a whole is very good value for money.
