“nice relaxing stay”
Reviewed 4 April 2012

an elegant and comfortable country house hotel, we loved staying here. we booked a superior room but were upgraded to a four-poster room (114), though the actual room didn't seem any different from the superior rooms other than the bed. the room an bathroom were clean and well furnished, though we didn't like the carpet in the bathroom - surely a hotel bathroom floor should have a wipe-clean surface?
the bar area was a nice place to relax in, and we were fortunate with the weather during our stay which meant we could also sit outside in the lovely gardens. we ate in the restaurant in the evening, the room was very well laid out so that despite it being quite busy we didn't notice it. food was good, though not excellent. after dinner there are numerous comfy lounges to relax in with a coffee etc.
staff were really first-class, could not have been more friendly and helpful. still can't believe though that internet access was only available in the "blue lounge", surely every good hotel offers it in every room now?

Ive stayed at other hotels that have not matched my expectation before have not bothered with a review, All my reviews on here have been good but thought I needed to warn others about this place. The location I thought was perfect in the forest and it looked very nice as I drove in, My happiness was short lived!, The rooms are in a very poor condition, One lady on here put pictures up from her room detailing the tired toilet seats etc, I thought this was a bit too much and there is always a few bad reviews from all hotels so went ahead and booked.

The room I thought was clean but it made you feel very dirty and it just felt dirty as this was tired to the extreme!. I was taking my girlfriend here so wanted to take her somewhere nice and clean, she seemed happy but I think she was not impressed and she put on a brave face, Maybe not the best for a romantic break.
Another thing I ordered a bottle of wine to be chilled in our room on arrival, It was sitting in a bucket of water next to the radiator!.

the service at the bar was also very bad, Everytime you wanted a drink you had to go to reception for them to call someone, They always gave you a big smle but I had the feeling you was really putting them out!

I would not stay here if your a couple, And im amazed with the good reviews for this place :-(.

We have been to stay several times and will keep gpoing back whilst it retains its extremely high standards.

It is well away from the busy town of Lymington......in fact it's a bit off the beaten track.

A lovely little building ( actuall, deceptively spacious) with wonderful rooms, excellent food, great service and just the right place for a romantic weekend away or a week's stay sometimes.

And it's where my husband proposed to me !!!! We've been back many times and it is still as perfect as ever.

Highly recommended.

We first visited Passford House in June 2011 and decided it was a place we would be returning to time and time again! It’s a hotel with character and being situated close to Lymington and Brockenhurst, it is the perfect location to explore all the glories of the forest and coast. It strikes a good balance of an old building with interest and history and clean comfortable facilities. It is small enough to be intimate but large enough to give a sense of space.
Our room was ideal and the bed was so comfortable, I could have stayed forever. The complimentary upgrade was a fantastic surprise and very welcome after a long journey! We were able to choose from three cozy lounges to relax with our dog “Molly” in front of the open log fire and take pleasure in enjoying our afternoon tea, which was served in silverware!!

The gardens are extensive and very well kept; there is even a tree house and chickens as you can see from my lovely pictures. My favorite was the part styled on “Monet’s Garden”.
Dogs are made to feel very welcome and our room was perfectly located on the ground floor with patio doors directly out onto the garden, Molly was most impressed!! There was a nice indoor swimming pool with sauna and small gym but as our weekend was for relaxing we did’nt try them out! The staff are very friendly and attentive without being intrusive-it makes a real difference to the larger hotels and makes it much more personal.

We had a relaxing evening with great food and wine followed next morning by an excellent full English breakfast-served buffet style the best I have experienced!

We thoroughly recommend Passford House it’s a must to try. We will certainly be going again very soon!

Many visits, and sometimes meet the same people, as some seem to stay regularly just for a rest. An old fashioned style of pleasant service that is hard to find in this area. Also decent lights in bedrooms! One of the radiators had been removed from our room as it was faulty, but they provided a convection heater without problem. A good dinner, but the menu does not change that often. A number of lounges, with games if required, and a pleasant garden. They seem to welcome dogs - always a good sign.

Read some contradictory reports, so was pleasantly surprised when we turned up at the Hotel. Great location just outside Lymington we were visiting Beaulieu Motor Museum (20 mins) but felt as if we were in the middle of nowhere. Fantastic atmosphere, open log fires and the restaurant was good too (although they stopped catering for children after 6.30pm). The first room we were given was great but was above the kitchen (room 147) and the noise from below really spoilt it for us, the hotel were good about it and moved us to an adjacent room which again was nice. I don't know how we would of been catered for if the hotel had been busy with little or no spare rooms.

Because of the children's menu issue in the restaurant we decided to go into Lymington on our second night to eat out. We came across a fantastic place called Graze you must check it out - Tapas with a difference fantastic cocktails and couldn't have been nicer people serving you.

Overall a really pleasant stay and the staff were first class and yes we would stay again.

I really like this hotel. May be because the atmosphere is very cosy, classy but just enough to make you comfortable. This is a very romantic place in many ways.
The garden is fantastic to appreciate an afternoon tea.
In the middle of New Forest, 5 minutes from Lymington and 10 minutes from Brockenhurst, ideal for a romantic weekend.
