Excellent food, wine and beer, in the summer evening sunshine after a brisk walk from the centre of Lymington.

Visited the 'Fish' for an impromptu midweek dinner. As always the restaurant and bar hummed with contented diners and locals enjoying a post work pint. Ten or eleven 'specials' adorned the board. Crab, brill, trout, mackeral, lobster, lamb shanks.....the list went on. My wide and I both ordered the 'surf & turf' as a treat. Huge succulent lobsters and perfectly pink rump steaks arrived.

A simple, but perfectly formed wine list and pub favs on the dessert front. The service as always first class. If you haven't been then your missing a trick. Oh, and the last work on the patio garden, transformed into a little oasis of fairy lights and green-fingered planting.

Thanks again for a lovely evening..... see you again soon.

We visited on a Monday and were surprised to see everything reserved but they managed to find us a table. Service was good. Two of us had crab which was very good and the other two had the pie. The chips were some of the best I have had. Dessert menu was ok but very standard pub choices. The Eaton mess was good with plenty of meringue. All in all a good choice for a meal but next time we will book

The food, service and ambiance was excellent, but the menu was not as attractive as last time. There was no Soup of the Day and no mussels. Will have to think before going again.

We had a lovely meal here on Tuesday and even though it was busy, the manageress (I didn’t get her name) found us the last table for two. The specials board was good but a bit pricey for some of it, and included lobster, crab etc, as fish is what they specialise in. We actually had a pie of the day (chicken and ham) and pork fillet in cider gravy, both of which were perfectly cooked, particularly the broccoli - no soggy over cooked veg here! To finish I had a Bailey’s creme brûlée, which was probably one of the best pub desserts I’ve ever had. A great glass of Pinot Grigio plus a pint or two of Seafarers ale made for a perfect meal.
A lovely cosy pub, which seemed to be full of regulars and was busy each time we passed.
