I had not been to the museum for many years and whilst waiting popped in. It is a well thought out history of the area, very interesting for adults and children alike.

Small museum and art gallery situated conveniently by both the short term and long term car parks, a ten minute walk up the High Street from the train station, or across the High Street from the bus depot! The Old School is well laid out, with the interactive and very child friendly museum running alongside the art gallery. The gallery has excellent exhibitions throughout the year, with different themes and highly respected art work. The shop is well stocked and serves as the local tourist information centre, with all sorts of useful literature available. It is manned by dedicated and well informed volunteers, all keen to share their local knowledge with visitors. And the Old School Gallery which holds selling exhibitions also offers a small refreshment outlet.

When visiting Lymington, it really is worth taking an hour or two to visit St. Barbe's. It is quite small but has an excellent selection of art and exhibits and a good shop stocked with local goods. Good for souvenirs or hostess gifts. The museum is very child friendly and is an excellent place to go with the family.

A good selection of art and exhibits, helpful and knowledgeable staff on hand.
Ideally situated just off the top of the high street.

We had a half price ticket to go to this museum so decided to pop in with our 8 and 2 year old. The museum is fairly small but they have done a good job at making it fun and interactive for kids with dressing up items, toys, a simulated lifeboat, quizzes, etc. The staff were lovely too with one really outstanding lady who looked all over for our daughters lost bracelet - and found it! - and was very enthusiastic about us all seeing and enjoying all the exhibits including a fantastic art exhibition. Nice shop too :)
