Whilst staying in Sway we went out for an early evening meal at this pub. It is quite easy to find as Boldre is a small village. The pub has a large car park and the building is much bigger inside than it looks with lots of different areas to sit. It is an old property with lots of character and inside there are some tiled, wood and carpeted floors.

As we were with friends and a large group of 12 we were given a nice area which only had one other table for 2 so it felt like a private party. The pub is child friendly which is helpful.

There is a large garden with a variety of chairs including some deck chairs but it was a bit too cool to sit out.

Because of the size of the group we had to pre order our food and chose the pork belly with mash and red cabbage, it was absolutely delicious and the portion size was just right, it filled us up nicely and we were glad not to have eaten a starter too as it would have been too much.

Being a Saturday night the pub was very busy but the staff worked really hard to get all the meals and drinks served and remained cheerful.

Puddings were listed on a small portable blackboard and there was a lovely choice including banoffee pie, sticky nutty tart, strawberry stack and many more. The puddings were huge and very tasty and filling.

This is a very nice pub with lots of atmosphere, good food and service

Well worth a visit.

We have visited before and have had very good meals here. However on this occasion we were shown into the large back room as there was not a free table for our family of five. We sat there on our own, which lacked the atmosphere of the rest of the pub. The menu is good, although pricey in my opinion. i.e. halloumi salad and chips £15. My son had cod and chips and instantly said the texture was not right...it was wet and heavy in texture. He did not enjoy it and left a portion.
The rest of the meals were good and my salad was very good. All in all a mixed review...atmosphere lacking and disappointing fish meal. We may of been unlucky looking at some of the other reviews...

We have eaten in here a few times before when we've stayed with family previously and every single time has been perfect. The food is exquisite and the staff extremely friendly and smiley,. nothing is ever too much trouble. The pub itself is beautiful, full of character which is always nice to see nowadays. We will most definitely be returning very soon when we are next in the New Forest area.

This is such a charming pub and in a wonderful location. Unfortunately we could not have been more unfortunate regarding our menu choice. I had a simple dish of fish and chips and mushy peas and my husband chose plaice and new potatoes. The mushy peas were laughable, frozen peas mushed up! The fish was so thin and tasteless and tasted like it had been reheated in microwave. The plaice was also tasteless and the potatoes were not even cooked properly.
