My partner and I stayed at Stanwell House on May 31st, for one night. The room was beautiful, we were upgraded to a four poster room, which was just luxurious! We ate in the Seafood restaurant, the food was sublime, the staff were attentive but discreet, the desert was fab! Breakfast was a sumptious affair with so much choice. Decadance for me!
Such lovely staff, beautiful room, comfortable bed, wonderful food, great location, free parking..... I was overwhelmed by it. The decor and attention to detail was marvellous. Congratulations and thank you for making our stay so utterly special. We will definelty visit again!!

From booking to checking out this was a great stay.Relaxed, friendly and exceptional value, with costs being no more than those sort of average pub with room type places. Small, but perfectly formed with attentive staff and lovely food being served in several different areas.Nothing was too much trouble and I will certainly return.

Our night at this hotel doesn't reflect the views of other reviewers at all. Firstly, the car park. We arrived at 3:40 to discover that there were no places available in the small hotel car park. We parked in the adjoining public car park where we had to pay at the meter, leave the keys at reception, be re-ticketed (admittedly by the staff) and then search for our keys the following morning. Our room was on the top floor and could only be described as cramped. The ensuite bathroom was not luxurious; the hot water ran cold for a long time and we could hear every movement and tap running of our neighbour's bathroom. Also, the tall bath was difficult to access as a shower (and the rubber bath mat on the door wasn't lovely) The hotel rang to ask if we'd like dinner and suggested tapas when I asked for something light ( a good idea) so we arrived promptly at 8 o'clock as booked. It took 30 minutes for the drinks. Although we were given a minute amuse bouche, our order itself didn't arrive until 9:10. Mostly the food was fine although the whitebait was soggy and inedible as was the scrambled egg at breakfast. Disappointing.

Room Tip: Ask for as room that's not on the top floor.

I stayed at Stanwell House last weekend as my daughter was getting married there. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly - nothing was too much trouble for them. Absolutely first class. And the food was the best I think I have ever tasted. Wonderful. The room (room 4) was very comfortable with a huge bed and French windows out on to the terrace. There were one or two niggles but mainly it was a really lovely stay.

Room Tip: Garden rooms on the ground floor have direct access to the terrace and garden

A good place to stay we got an upgrade. The breakfast was excellent and the staff helpful. Nice touches in the room like some local mineral water. The shower was a walk in.

Room Tip: we loved the garden rooms
