We, five retired businessmen from Berkshire, still enjoy an occasional day out and our visit to Lymington was enhanced from the very start when we enjoyed a superb English breakfast, which we are not allowed at home, at the Stanwell House Hotel. The staff was most welcoming and a quick tour of the hotel showed a good bar and a very promising seafood restaurant. We liked the whole ambience of Stanwell House and could easily return with our better halves for a coastal break. Jack, Pangbourne, Berkshire.

My husband and I stayed at the Stanwell for 2 nights. We were welcomed by Lucy who couldn't have done enough for us. She was always, happy and smiley, a real credit to the Stanwell. The rooms were immaculate, we had a suite with an enormous bath and beautiful sitting room. Breakfast is cooked to order and is fantastic, we also ate in the seafood restaurant which again was brilliant. One of the afternoons was slightly rainy so we sat in the cocktail bar and tried the delicious cocktails, loose goose was our favorite. Couldn't recommend this hotel enough.

Shared an afternoon tea and an ice coffee in the conservatory, what more could you want for no more than a coffee and cake at a big chain coffee shop. Wonderful surroundings and service with a cream tea, well a couple of scones and a selection of small cakes served on a slate with jam and cream. Great place to relax and soak up the atmosphere.
Not perfect by any stretch, almond slice bland but other-two slices to die for and wonderful scones.
Stay away from the chains and keep gems like this going.

I've just had another very pleasant stay at this hotel as it was a perfect location for us to visit Southampton boat show. We didn't have a dog with us this time so stayed in one of the four poster rooms which was very nice. My only criticism would be that the bathroom didn't have any shelves apart from the small one above the sink so you couldn't unpack your toiletries and the shower had less than a dribble of water coming out of it.
On the upside the standard of food and service in the restaurant was superb as we had previously experienced, many thanks to our host (I didn't get her name) but she ensured everything was perfect. Breakfast was also really good, cooked to order with an extensive choice available.
I will definitely be returning and would recommend this hotel if you're looking for somewhere to stay in the New Forest.

A pleasant stay with very helpful staff and a nice room. Delicious breakfasts cooked to order rather than one of those buffets where the food has been sitting around for too long. Location good for Sailing or doing New Forest activities

Room Tip: Garden rooms quiet and pleasant
