“Amazing effort to please custormers”

I have been here a few times now and I have never had a bad meal, often I have stayed for afternoon tea in the lovely conservatory. The most recent time I went was with my grand parents who live 45 mins away from the hotel. Starting off on a low actually we had a waiter (who I think was new) who didn't really know what he was doing. We were quite a big table so the what looked like the manager came and took my order. My little brother was crying because ever since we started coming he has had the same dish ever since he can remember so the manager told him she would ask the chef what they could find. He had a beaming smile on his face when the dish appeared and it looked brilliant, Credits to stanwells for that. There is one last thing I would like to point out for first timers there is only TWO puddings on the menu and I have had to go without sometimes since there isn't an appealing pudding on the menu. Overall one of the best tasting restaurants I have been to I do recommend (just venture to the conservatory for pudding).

We recently stayed for a 3 night break(4 ladies on a short break). We found staff at the hotel to be very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were clean and had everything we needed. We ate in the hotel the first night and then at nearby restaurants the remaining 2 nights. Lymington proved a good location and fuelled by our very tasty breakfasts we found plenty to see and do over the three days . We would definitely stay stay again and recommend to our friends .Many Thanks to Olaf and the rest of the team!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the garden rooms 8 & 15

My wife treated me to a short break here to celebrate my birthday in the middle of November. Lymington is a good base to explore the New Forest and the Solent coastline, and in our case we enjoyed 2 days walking the Solent Way path.

She chose a garden suite room which had a small sitting room and a bedroom which looked over the gardens at the back of the hotel. It was pleasantly decorated with classic furniture and a very comfy bed. The bathroom was very modern with a great walk in shower. Overall enough space for a comfortable stay.

The hotel is situated on the busy High Street which has advantages - lots of interesting shops and dining places close by - and disadvantages - parking outside on arrival/departure can be a problem. The hotel car park is behind the shops on the opposite side of the road and somewhat difficult to find, even with the small map they provide. Even then it is small and "first come first served", so you can end up paying to park (were all the cars in the car park belonging to patrons?). In spite of the busy road at the front, the gardens at the rear were very peaceful (not that we spent much time in them in November).

Breakfast was good, especially the eggs benedict, although they still charge £2.50 extra for them which is a bit petty. We also ate in the restaurant twice and enjoyed most of the food - some combinations of flavours were a bit too much for my simple palette:) You can mix and match from the Seafood and Bistro menus and pay the excess over the table d'hote allowance which means you have a wide choice.

An enjoyable stay at a reasonable price.

Room Tip: We had room 2, a small suite with access to the gardens at the rear. Quiet and comfortable.

We were passing the Stanwell House Hotel in Lymington on a Tuesday lunchtime and what a great decision it was going in for a bite to eat. A beautiful hotel with very attentive welcoming staff. The food was excellent and very reasonable for the high standard and gourmet presentation. The highlight for me was the desert - I had deep fried rice pudding fritters, with sorbet and fruit sauce dots on a small bed of chocolate. Sounds unusual but absolutely divine. We will definitely treat ourselves again, perhaps trying the evening menu, which looked spectacular. A big thank you to all at the hotel.

Room Tip: We did not stay so could not say.

Third time we have stayed and would go back again. The fish restaurant provided locally caught fish. Great service, great food and wonderful location. The market on Saturday was a bonus.Highly recommended.

We stayed here for just the one night in October and we can't wait to come back! We booked a Terrace Garden room and were very pleased with the Gardens and our room, the staff are friendly and the breakfast was great.
Our room was spot-less and we both had a great nights sleep here, I would reccommend this hotel to Couples in particular.

Lovely place for a mid week break and we stayed for three nights. Excellent friendly and efficient staff who were unfailingly helpful.
Breakfasts were excellent and included home poached fruits. Dinners include a wide choice and had flair and imagination. There was some inconsistency in plating and against the menu description and if serving triple cooked chips they should always be crisp.
Nice small bar for a quick evening drink and conservatory for daytime coffee but wished they had a quiet lounge with fire for residents for the evening.
Room was traditional and at front of property. We knew this in advance but if street noise worries you then room at the back may be better as there is no double glazing or secondary glazing.
For a boutique hotel the bathroom was fine but a bit drab and the toiletries on the mean side and not replenished (one piece of soap).
All in all however a very good hotel in a nice central location.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the garden are quieter
