Classic old building with many nooks and crannies, romantic decoration, comfy beds, modern bathrooms, good food, great drinks, but especially very friendly staff!
Just one word of warning steps everywhere so "mind your step" especially after a few glasses...

Room Tip: Nr.22 in the front has a window seat were you can watch the world go buy in the high street, but noi...

As mentioned by other visitors, the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff made this a very enjoyable place to stay. We had a nicely furnished garden room, with very comfortable bed, overlooking the terrace. We enjoyed sitting in the pretty and peaceful garden, well away from the main road and any traffic noise. We enjoyed the food, particularly the excellent breakfasts. Food in the restaurant was very interesting, with a lot of attention to detail, completely in keeping with the gourmet break we had booked. Personally I would have liked to have had the option of a couple of slightly plainer dishes, as the dishes on all three menus seemed to be equally as complex, but I realise that this is just my personal preference. Parking was just over the road and we opted to park in the long term car park, even if there was space in the hotel car park, as we noticed that sometimes cars were blocking the other cars in.

Room Tip: Our garden room on the ground floor was very peaceful, and it was easy to open the door to the terra...

We stayed at Stanwell House for a weekend away from the kids, the suite was beautifully designed and very comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our stay, we could not have asked for anything more.
We used the hotel Twizzy electric car and had a bike ride in the forest which was great fun.
There is also a market on Saturdays just outside on the High Street which is nice to have a look around.
Thank you Stanwell!! We'll be back!

Room Tip: Pay a little extra to upgrade, it'll be well worth it.

Great, friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We stayed with our 2 year old and the staff were great with her. The location couldn't be better, right in the heart of Lymington. The room was very comfortable and clean. The food is first class, especially the fillet steak and afternoon teas. Huge compliments to the chef whoever he or she is! A very special mention to Pedro and Laura, who were so polite and attentive and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. Also to the lovely Marilyn on reception, who made us feel so welcome. I couldn't recommend this place highly enough! We will be back very soon!

This is a lovely, boutique hotel bang in the middle of the stunning town of Lymington and a few minutes stroll to the waterfront. The entire place is beautifully designed and spotlessly clean, with a compliment of the friendliest staff that we have encountered in a long time.
Our room was spacious, with a very comfortable bed and ultra-modern bathroom. The only issue that we had with the room was the noise from the street, so next time we would opt for one at the back of the hotel.
Unfortunately, the food in the restaurant was very poor, with some of the dishes being tasteless and others so salty as to be almost inedible. When we complained to the maitre'd, he knocked the wine off of the bill, apologised and said that he would inform the chef of our views.
After an excellent breakfast the next morning, which was only marred by the salty mushrooms, we checked out and mentioned the experience in the restaurant. Within a couple of hours of leaving, the owner of the hotel called us to apologise personally, thank us for the feedback and offer us a free lunch or dinner whenever we were next in Lymington, by which time he would have sorted out the problems in the kitchen. Service doesn't come much better than that!
In summary, a brilliant place to stay which would have got 5 stars if not for the evening meal.

Room Tip: Rooms on the front overlooking the street can be noisy at night and early morning.

Four of us went for Afternoon Tea at the Stanwell House Hotel in Lymington. The hotel is in the High Street, but behind the shops opposite there is a large car park with a path through directly in front of the hotel. We did not really know what to expect. A very pleasant waiter greeted us and took us to our table. We had booked the full Afternoon Tea. When it came there were, for each person, 4 different finger sandwiches, 2 different cakes, a small trifle, a small lemon posset, a fruit scone and a plain scone with clotted cream and jam. We also each had a pot of tea or other drink.

We thoroughly enjoyed our decadent afternoon. This was a great way to celebrate a special occasion or just for fun. We were seated in comfortable chairs and there was no rush to move us on. The service was excellent. Well done, Stanwell House Hotel!

We walked in sort of 'by accident', because a tearoom nextdoor mysteriously ran out of scones during teatime. We were in for a nice surprise: Two lovely warm scones with a big pot of tea for a reasonable price. Good service, nice atmosphere.
If the clotted cream had been a tad more for two scones, it would certainly have been '5 stars' for value instead of 4....
Certainly considering a return visit!
