Lucy and her team were all brilliant. The hotel is beautiful and all the staff are so helpful and friendly absolutely nothing is left to chance. Stanwell House is a very slick operation. The restaurant was superb in fact we ate 'in' both nights. Thank you all and especially to Lucy Laura and Maryilyn for finding my camera!

reception - especially laura - very customer focused. she made sure our stay was perfect from finding us a room on short notice to setting up an extra bed for our nephew. the suite was lovely with an big victorian tub perfect for a long soak after a traffic-clogged journey; the sunlit balcony was bliss on sunday morning. seafood dinner in the bistro was very good too.

Stayed at the Stanwell House for 3 nights - My wife is American and I am British but we both live in GA in the USA. We are a little spoiled as we do stay in American Hotels and B & B's which have proven excellent (in General). Well, we arrived in Lymington for a three day stay for a wedding. Staff were excellent in check in, attentive and the place was very clean.
No direct hotel parking but the UK has these strict rules about listed areas and protected status throughout the New Forest so fair enough. The car park was abour 1 minute walk across the street so no big deal. Noone to take the oversized bags up the stairs though. That was a little annoying.
The room was superb - not quite home but very appealing. Three rooms made up the suite - an entry/lounge area, main bedroom and bathroom. All clean well decorated and smelled fresh. No A/c but this is the UK - probably not needed but for 3 days in June so...
Windows all opened so plenty of fresh sea air...
BIG ISSUE... Showers. The Shower looked fantastic until it was switched on. Like all hotels and homes in the UK, the hot water is non presurized, so the shower didn't shower, it dribbled. There exist in the UK MANY MANY vendors of power showers, that create a high pressure blast of water, but so many hotels seem not to get it.
My advice to these places - spend the $300 per room and install them - you'll get more Americans staying with you - in fact MENTION it in your brochure. I know these exist because my parents have them installed at their house in the UK - beats many american showers ... This is a big peave of mine because I like a good shower after a long run, as does my AMERICAN wife !!
Anyway - I will stop obsessing - the restaurant downstairs was excellent - fish - probably some of the freshest I have ever had. The bar was good, the young blond bar manager knew her stuff and was very friendly.
Price we paid in August 09 was 160PDS - a lot but high season and no choice as to when my Sis got married so... I would give it a 7/10 - once the showers are improved probably a 9/10

I stayed at Stanwell House for 3 nights in August 2009 with my family. Lymington is a pleasant town and Stanwell House an equally pleasant hotel. The staff were very friendly and efficient at all times and made the stay very enjoyable. I'm not quite sure the hotel deserves its self proclaimed 'boutique' status - there are about 20 rooms which makes it a bit bigger than 'boutique' hotels and the decor/styling may have looked up to scratch about 10/15 years ago but it needs a facelift again. If you are looking for a stylish, design-led hotel then go elsewhere but if you want a friendly hotel with good food then you'll be fine here.

We've just returned from a 4 night stay at Stanwell House, our 4th stay in 2 years, and once again we've had a really wonderful break.

All our previous visits had been excellent, but, If anything, this time was even better. The service in the restaurant both for breakfast and evening meals was more polished and organised, and meals ran smoothly and effortlessly. Special mention must go to Lucy, the Restaurant Manager who had absolutely everything under control and for whom nothing was too much trouble, and Gunita who's service and professionalism was faultless throughout.

Without exception every meal was delicious and of the highest quality and wines were excellent (we particularly enjoyed the complimentary tapas with the bottle of rose!). The French restaurant at the front of the hotel has a wonderful atmoshphere with oustatnding food, and the Bistro restaurant overlooking the beautiful cottage garden is spacious and contempory.
Both restaurants offer a range of menus, and we were advised we could mix and match anything we wished from any of the menus so there was total flexibility.

The public areas are also luxurious in a boutique style, and very atmospheric with candlight and fresh flowers. The conservatory is a wonderful place to relax after breakfast, (free WiFi) or to enjoy morning coffee / lunch / afternoon tea, and evening meals can also be served there.

On arrival at the hotel we were warmly welcomed by Marilyn who went to great lengths to offer us a choice of rooms; we opted for room 32 at the front of the hotel which was spacious, beautifully furnished and extremely comfortable. Rooms inh the main house do vary is size due to the style of the building, but all the ones we have seen are decorated and furnished to the highest quality, many in a boutique style. Staff have always been happy to show guests a range of bedrooms so don't be afraid to ask, or to get room descriptions when booking. Reception service throughout our stay was friendly, effiicient and helpful.

We enjoyed our usual picnics in the New Forest and loved the Lymington Saturday market, and this time we even managed a trip to the isle of Wight which was simple to organise and well worth a visit. There's so much to see and do in this area and Lymington itself is a lovely small market town with plenty of restaurants and coffee shops, and a pretty cobbled streets down to the quayside.

The hotel has never failed to exceed our expectations, no matter how many times we visit, and just seems to be going from strength to strength. From a couple who rarely stay at the same hotel twice, it speaks volumes that we've just booked again for next year!

My wife and I got married here in June 2009, followed by the reception and evening celebrations. We would get married here every year if we could! From our intitial contact right through to leaving on the Sunday after the wedding, the customer service was impeccable. When looking for a venue for our wedding we found that many hotels in the New Forest dictated to us what they required etc.. Stanwells were very accommodating and nothing was a problem. The food is second to none, and you can tell they pride themselves on being original with the menu. ALL of our guests commented on how different the place is and how wonderful the whole feel to the hotel is. The rooms are all different and very quirky, and the Conservatory rooom was perfect for our ceremony - we will certainly visit Stanwells everytime we're local for a coffee or a meal. Many friends and family who live in other counties are certainly going to re-visit. As you enter the hotel there is a certain 'feel' to the place that you just don't get in other hotels. Go for afternoon tea, check out the gardens, have a meal in the lovely Bistro or Seafood Restaurant to see for yourself how nice it is here.

Having had a very stressful time of late we chose Stanwell house from the internet just to get away for a couple of days. On arrival the staff were very kind and helpful and the room was beautiful which, straight away, put us at our ease. I 'loved' the little bennie dog 'do not disturb' toy.
We unfortunatly, didn't have good weather but, that didn't matter to much as we were right in the middle of town and had shops to look round. Quaint little shops that you don't see many other places. A great pub over the road' The Angel' Very good Guiness!
Evening and the Hotel Resteraunt didn't dissapoint, we had a fabulouse meal of Chicken,me and Lamb, my husband, super puds then coffee and cocktails to finnish, all made better by the friendly staff who looked after us.
