“Great independent cafe”

Lounges of Lymington
Ranked #2 of 10 Coffee & Tea in Lymington
Certificate of Excellence
Description: We are a grade 2 listed building therefore when you visit us please don't expect straight floors and walls!! Our seating we think is a little cosy but in the space we have and the building as it is fits perfectly! We are as modern as we think the building can take without taking too much character away. We are a little different in a very nice way. Look forward to seeing you in lounges our very lovely little coffee shop.

Nice to find a non-chain cafe that provides a good consistent service. All the usual extras are available - wifi and newspapers. Good selection of cakes and given the food is prepared freshly they can happily tailor paninis and sandwiches to your own taste.

The woman had seen my girlfriend and I stood there ready to order with our money out and continued to polish the coffee machine for a further five minutes. We were finally served and informed the woman we would be seated outside, she then informed us that they had closed the outside seating area (2 hours before closing time) which was slightly inconvenient as my girlfriend is a smoker but this posed no real issue. We sat down and a young girl bought our drinks over, just as we got comfortable another member of staff informed us that we couldn't sit at that table because 'it had just been wiped down' (again, 2 hours before closing time) which was ridiculous, surely a table should be wiped between each customer, not just at the end of the day. We picked up our drinks to move, only to find we had actually been barricaded in with chairs to stop anyone sitting there even though they had seen us!! We were actually laughing by this point because the service was comically bad. For the remainder of our visit, we were given filthy looks by the staff as if we had caused them great inconvenience.

Not a bad place for a coffee or a sandwich. Yesterday we sat out in the courtyard which is also used by a bike shop and a couple of other businesses, it was ok as it was a warm sunny day. Pleasant enough coffee stop though. Have been several times and the male owner always seems to be under stress and never smiles, which seems to rub off on the other staff. I'll return because the coffee is better than the other venues in Lymington.

Lounges is our regular coffee shop, tried all that lymington has to offer and by far lounges is the best. Don't understand the seating comments on other posts, lounges is quirky yes but that's mainly because of its listed building status, seating mixed up!!!!!! What does that mean? And does it matter?? The back room has just been re-furbished and looks cosy, comfy and bright, service is always great may take a little longer when it's busy but that's a good thing, great to see somewhere busy. Lounges serves the best coffee by far in the high street and its certainly worth waiting for!! Carry on the good work lounges we love you.
